Mr. & Mrs. Henke

Makenzy and Travis are such a fun couple!  Ever since I photographed them this spring, I knew their wedding day would be an absolute blast.  The majority of the day, the forecast was calling for rain, but we weren’t going to let that dampen our time.  We joined Makenzy and her bridesmaids in downtown Jefferson City at an old industrial building where everyone was getting ready for the day.  All the rooms were being occupied for hair and makeup.  Music filled the rooms and hallways and lots of laughter could be heard throughout!  We knew we were in for one fun day.  Before getting into her gown, Makenzy gave all of the bridesmaids the sweetest wedding day gift bag full of lots of amazing things.  All the girls posed for a few quick portraits in their matching pajamas before it was time to get Makenzy in her gown.

Makenzy slipped into her custom made gown and her mom helped fasten the buttons in place.  Makenzy looked absolutely stunning as she gazed at herself in the mirror.   Makenzy kept her dress a secret and wanted to have a grand reveal with all of her bridesmaids.  We brought all of the girls in the room, counted to three, and everyone spun around quickly.  A wave of emotions swept through the room!  All of Makenzy’s friends were so excited to witness her as a beautiful bride.  Waiting downstairs, was Makenzy’s dad.  She wanted to share a first look with him before sharing a first look with her soon to be husband.  Makenzy tapped his shoulder, and her dad turned around in disbelief.  He looked stunned when he was met with his daughter as a bride.

Next, it was time for the first look with the bride and groom.  Makenzy instantly became really nervous.  She had their dog Sully with her for the first look.  If I didn’t love dogs enough already, seeing a dog be included in a first look with a bride and groom just melted my heart.  It was probably one of the cutest moments of the entire day.  Makenzy grabbed Travis and her turned around.  He looked so surprised and excited to be met with his gorgeous bride and their fur baby Sully.  Sully was so excited to be included in the moment he kept jumping up on Makenzy and Travis.

A light rain was coming down as we ventured downtown for bridal party portraits.  Everyone made our job so incredibly easy as we photographed the group shots.  Luckily, the rain eventually stopped coming down and we were met with a window of clear weather.  Before heading to church, we stopped at the Missouri capitol to take romantic portraits of Makenzy and Travis.  These two knocked these portraits out of the park.  Their love is so genuine, that it’s easy to document the most natural portraits!  Their laughter is infectious and their fun personalities make it so fun working with them.

At 2pm, the ceremony began at St. Francis Catholic Church in Taos.  Within the hour, Makenzy and Travis were married in a traditional full mass Catholic ceremony with all of their friends and family in attendance.  The Father pronounced them Mr. and Mrs. Henke and they happily made their way back up the aisle as everyone applauded in excitement.  After family formals, we went to Travis’ parents property to take some more portraits before the reception began.  We once again had so much fun with everyone.  Makenzy and Travis were adorable as can be during their bride and groom portraits.  She was always laughing and Travis looks at Makenzy like there is no one else in the world.  They are just the sweetest pair.

After portraits, we headed to Loose Creek where family and friends were waiting to kick off the evening of celebrating.  Makenzy and Travis told their bridal party that who ever came up with the best grand entrance into the reception, they would earn $100.00.  Their friends did not disappoint.  Each bridesmaid and groomsmen pairing really pulled out all the stops and had guests cracking up laughing and cheering in excitement.  They really know how to get the party started.  After the newest Mr. and Mrs. Henke were announced into the room, the night was officially kicked off in celebratory fashion.

Makenzy and Travis had a packed venue and one of the wildest dance parties we’ve ever seen!  Guests seemed to be having the best time out of the dance floor.  We ended the night with a quick sparkler exit with Makenzy and Travis and their friends and family.  It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day.

Makenzy and Travis, Thank you so much for allowing us to be part of such a special day.  We adored working with you both and felt so welcomed in by all of your friends and family.  We wish you two the absolute best.  Congratulations to you both!  Enjoy some of our favorites from the day.
