Marissa + Kyler | Columbia, Missouri Engagement Session

Marissa & Kyler had such a beautiful spring day for their engagement session in Columbia, Missouri!  They arrived dressed to impress at Capen Park with their little pup, Brady.  He truly stole the show in the beginning of the session!  I couldn’t get enough of his model pose and cute demeanor.  Brady was so excited to be in the photos with Marissa and Kyler.  Anytime we pulled him out for a few photos, he would throw a little fit trying to come back over to them.  We strolled around the park taking in all the pretty views!  Marissa & Kyler made my job so easy as they effortlessly interacted with one another.  It made documenting their connection so fun!

Next, we traveled to Stephens Lake Park where the sun peeked out from behind the clouds for a few minutes just in time for a few golden hour portraits!  The lake provided a gorgeous backdrop for the adorable couple.  No matter what I prompted Marissa & Kyler to do, they did so with a smile!  You’ll find me counting down the days until their winter wedding.  I cannot wait to have these two back in front of my camera.

How They Met

Marissa and Kyler met through mutual friends.  They had many conversations over a long period of time.  Eventually in 2020, they both realized they were incredibly compatible and wanted to spend time together and make things more serious. It was obvious from the beginning that they would be best friends and amazing partners.  Marissa and Kyler shared their first date on Kyler’s farm.  He cooked them a nice steak dinner and bought Marissa some flowers he acquired from an employee of his at the time.  Kyler also made sure his pet alligator, Leroy, was in attendance.  There were a few unique and exotic details to their first date!   It could not have been more fitting for their relationship.  Marissa remembers hoping that odd night would never end!

The One

Marissa: “I knew Kyler was the one after a few months. He took me on a vacation to Alabama right when I graduated nursing school, it was the first trip I  went on without my family. It was amazing and we got so much quality time. We actually got COVID together not long after that trip and ended up spending the better part of a month
together. After realizing how fulfilled and loved I was with him, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life being his partner.”

Kyler: I knew Marissa was the one when I saw her boiling chicken breast (jk, if you know me you’ll know the joke) I
met Marissa during a transitional phase in my life, and through the ups and downs she chose to stay with me
and made me a better man every single day. I knew she was the one from our very first date, even if she
doesn’t agree!”

How He Asked

Marissa and Kyler had spent an amazing week at their home at the Lake of the Ozark’s and they were wrapping the week up on a beautiful hot summer day.  They had a relaxing day on the water with family, and when they returned to their dock there was a crowd of people, all family and friends of Marissa and Kyler.  The patio had a large sign “Will you
marry me?”  It was the sweetest thing Marissa has ever seen!  She loved how much care and effort Kyler put into the perfect proposal.
