Hailey + Aaron | Jefferson City, Missouri Engagement Session

Hailey and Aaron joined me in Jefferson City, Missouri for their engagement session!  These two lucked out with beautiful weather during a mid August session.  The temperatures were only in the high 70s, so it felt more like fall than late summer. Hailey and Aaron came dressed to impress in their timeless attire!  They chose the perfect outfits that paired perfectly with Missouri Capitol in the background.  As we strolled around the capital grounds, Hailey and Aaron really started to warm up to the camera.  These two really let their personalities shine.

For their second location, we chose a nature area where Hailey and Aaron would meet up with their pup, Lucy!  Hailey’s parents brought the sweet pup to the session!  Lucy was freshly cut and she was decked out in bandana that said, “She said Yes!”  At first, Lucy was pretty hyper and didn’t want to sit still.  She was just too excited.  After a few minutes, she was sitting pretty as ever and ended up stealing the show!

The golden hour glow was showing off on the evening of their session!  We were able to document some beautiful romantic portraits during this window of time.  I had so much fun with Hailey and Aaron as we ended the session!  I loved getting to know more about them as a couple and watching their personalities come to life!  I’m so excited to work with them again next year for their special day!

How They Met

Hailey and Aaron met at Mizzou during Homecoming in 2016 while building the float. Their sorority and fraternity houses were paired.  Hailey ended up having to pull an all nighter since she hadn’t done any of her pomping hours.  She was trying to avoid a fine and Aaron was “supervising” the younger guys working on the float.  Hailey and Aaron began bantering about his supervising skills as he was watching everyone do the work.

The First Date

Hailey doesn’t recall having a first date.  She just remembers working on the float together all night and then they rode on it together in the morning.  Later, they tailgated and celebrated with all of their friends.  They haven’t stopped talking to each other since.  Aaron remembers things differently.  He says they took each other to their formals that fall.  And recalls their real first date while dating was eating chipotle on Haileys couch that summer when he first asked her out!

The  One

Emily told her mom when she saw her after the parade that she had just met the man she was going to marry. So Hailey knew within 12 hours of meeting Aaron that he was the one for her! Aaron says he thinks he always knew Hailey was the one but was afraid to commit, as Hailey would say.

How He Asked

Hailey had been waiting forever for a proposal.  She was going back to Chicago to dress shop with her now sister-in-law.  Aaron was coming up as well  Sunday-Tuesday for them to have some time back in their city!  Inevitably, Hailey found this to be suspicious.  The morning after Aaron arrived, he had planned with a photographer where to meet and capture the special moment.  Hailey and Aaron walked from their hotel, through the zoo to their favorite point on Lake Michigan where you can see the city!  They would always walk their dog and eat breakfast there on weekends, so it was kind of their special spot.

Hailey and Aaron were also pretty dressed up.  Aaron asked a random photographer to take a photo of them and at that point, Hailey knew for sure it was finally happening!  Aaron proposed and they have some beautiful photos of that special moment and special place!
