Mr. & Mrs. Liebhart | White Iron Ridge | Smithville, Missouri Wedding

Megan & Connor | White Iron Ridge Wedding

On July 5, the summer sun was shining bright over White Iron Ridge in Smithville, Missouri, as Megan and Connor said “I do.” The venue’s modern, elegant architecture and sweeping views made it the perfect backdrop for the special day!

I’ve had the joy of working with the Liebhart family before, so when Megan reached out to tell me she was engaged, I couldn’t have been more excited.  The sweetest part of their love story?  Megan met Connor through his mom!  While student teaching with her, Megan learned that Connor was living in Kansas City. One conversation led to another, and soon they were talking regularly, eventually realizing they had something truly special.

Upstairs in the bridal suite, the air was thick with anticipation and joy!  Laughter spilled out into the hallway as Megan’s bridesmaids had their hair curled and makeup perfected.  Downstairs, the guys were making their entrance.  Connor had one special request, game day walk-in shots, and his groomsmen did not disappoint.  Each made their own dramatic arrival, complete with cigars, drinks in hand, and loud music pumping through the speaker!

Connor got dressed with the help of both of his parents. There was so much laughter in the room, but when his mom saw her son standing there in his suit, ready to become a husband, her eyes welled up.  She reached out to straighten his boutonniere, smiling through the emotion, while his dad gave him a proud pat on the shoulder and a fist bump.

One of the unsung heroes of the day was Megan’s incredible planner, Barbie, with VeilEvents.  From the moment I arrived, she was working tirelessly behind the scenes, making sure every detail was flawless and every moment flowed effortlessly.  Barbie not only kept the day running smoothly, but she also transformed the space into an elegant, romantic setting that perfectly reflected Megan and Connor’s style!  The reception was a vision, floral centerpieces graced each table, tall stands held cascading ferns, and delicate bud vases added texture and charm.  Muted blue and green tones tied everything together, creating a timeless, sophisticated palette!  Barbie’s touch was everywhere, and her dedication was a huge part of what made the day feel so seamless and beautiful.

Back upstairs, Megan was in her white pj set with her bridesmaids in the adorable floral pajama sets for some pre-ceremony photos.  She truly has an incredible eye for style, the soft blue and green tones carried through from their PJs to the floral bridesmaid dresses, to all the details around the venue, creating a perfect, cohesive look!

When it was time to put on her gown, her mom gently helped her step in, while her sisters buttoned the back and smoothed out the train!  Her veil and delicate jewelry were the final touches, and when Megan turned toward the mirror, her mom’s expression said it all, pride, joy, and awe at her daughter’s beauty!

Her bridesmaids were gathered at the top of the stairs for the big reveal.  As soon as they turned to see her, the room erupted in gasps, cheers, and teary smiles!  The emotion didn’t stop there.  Megan’s dad was waiting at the bottom of the grand staircase for their first look.  Already fighting back tears, he turned to see his little girl, and in that moment, words weren’t needed.  They hugged tightly, both wiping their eyes as Megan’s mom watched from nearby.

Finally, it was time for Megan and Connor to see each other for the first time!  Connor stood outside on the back terrace, his back turned, as one of Megan’s bridesmaids pressed play on a song through a speaker, turning the moment into their own private “aisle” experience.  Megan walked toward him, her dress flowing behind her, the sunlight shining off her veil!  When Connor turned, his face lit up in the biggest grin.  He couldn’t stop repeating how amazing she looked.  The way he held her, kissed her, and looked at her with complete admiration, it was one of the sweetest moments of the day!

July in Missouri means heat and humidity, so after a few quick outdoor portraits, we moved the bridal party indoors for photos to keep everyone cool before the outdoor ceremony.  Guests began to gather on the back patio,  fanning themselves with the custom fans Megan had designed, each printed with fun facts about the couple and their day.  The sun was still blazing, but nothing could stop the excitement of the day!

Connor’s uncle officiated the ceremony, making it feel deeply persona!  As Megan appeared with her dad, Connor’s face softened into that same adoring smile he had around her all day!  They exchanged personal vows that had both of them, and many guests, wiping away tears.  Rings were exchanged and they were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Liebhart!  Their walk back up the aisle ended in a perfectly executed kiss-and-dip moment as their guests cheered!

Cocktail hour took place on the covered deck, giving guests a chance to mingle while enjoying views of the sun starting its slow descent.  When the reception began, Megan and Connor entered hand-in-hand, faces lit with excitement!  The toasts that followed were the perfect mix of heartfelt and hilarious, one moment the room was roaring with laughter, the next there were happy tears being dabbed away!

During the parent dances, Megan shared a special moment with her mom. Mid-song, the DJ invited all mothers and daughters onto the dance floor to join them for Taylor Swift’s Never Grow Up.  The sight of so many mothers and daughters holding each other close had the whole room emotional.

As the light turned golden, we slipped outside for sunset portraits!  The July air was still heavy with warmth, but the glow was absolutely worth it.  Megan and Connor strolled hand-in-hand through the fields behind the venue, stealing kisses and laughing between poses.  The way they look at each other, like no one else exists, made my job effortless!

Back inside, the dance floor was alive with energy!  And since it was the 4th of July weekend, Connor made a grand appearance waving an American flag as Toby Keith’s Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue blasted through the speakers.  Guests circled around the couple, singing at the top of their lungs, waving the flag, and celebrating with pure joy!

It was the perfect end to a perfect day, fun, emotional, and unforgettable!

Megan and Connor, it was such an honor to capture your wedding day!  From the heartfelt first looks to the spark of joy on the dance floor, every moment was a reflection of your love for each other and the incredible people around you.  Thank you for trusting me with these memories, and cheers to this new chapter as husband and wife! Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Liebhart!
