How They Met
Some love stories truly feel like they were meant to be, and Abbi & Brody’s is one of them! Their story begins long before either of them realized where life would take them, back to the hospital on the day Abbi was born. Brody jokes that he’s known her since then, but their families really have been intertwined forever. Their parents were even in each other’s weddings, and their dads stood by one another as best men. Childhood was filled with shared memories like Halloween parties, hayrides, Fourth of July gatherings, and everything in between!
To Abbi, Brody was always just a family friend. Dating him wasn’t something she ever imagined. But as life has a way of surprising us, everything shifted one night when Abbi went along to help her aunt with hair at a wedding. She almost didn’t go, but that decision changed everything! At the reception, she and Brody started talking, and it felt natural, like picking up a conversation they were always meant to have! That night stretched into hours, chatting in the hotel lobby until 3 a.m., and Abbi began to think, “maybe this could actually be something!”
Their first official date happened just days later, sitting on Brody’s back deck watching fireworks on the 4th of July! It wasn’t awkward or forced, it was peaceful, easy, and comfortable, like they’d found home in one another! That night confirmed everything. Soon, Abbi knew she needed to tell her parents, and thankfully, they had always loved Brody!
As their relationship grew, they began blending families and friends more, and Abbi noticed how happy she felt with Brody by her side! She admired how he would do anything for anyone, how hardworking and selfless he was. Over time, it became clear that he was the one! For Brody, it was simpler, he knew after their first date! Watching fireworks on that July night, everything just clicked. It was peaceful, natural, and he felt certain about Abbi right away!
How He Asked
On April 5, 2025, Brody asked Abbi to marry him in the sweetest surprise proposal! Abbi thought they were heading to a dinner (that she wasn’t even excited about) and then to Trops in Columbia with friends. On the way back, they took the scenic route to stop at the “big tree” their friend Ali adores. When they got out for photos, Brody’s heart was racing, though he tried to play it cool. Abbi had no idea what was coming, she even thought it was a joke at first! But then she realized it was real, and she was ecstatic!
Brody had worked hard to pull it off, even leaving his phone at the gym the day he got the ring so Abbi couldn’t track him on Find My Friends (she admits she’s a little nosy!). It worked, she was completely surprised! After a joyful “yes” (and several “shut ups” in disbelief), they celebrated with friends and family back at High Rise!
When they’re not planning their wedding, you’ll find Abbi & Brody doing the things they love most, hosting football Sundays, working out together, spending time outdoors on the farm, or grabbing a bite at Tres Agaves (a weekly tradition). Abbi describes Brody as fun-loving, hardworking, and protective of the people he loves most! She admires how deeply he cares for family and friends and how he has the rare ability to make anyone feel important. Brody describes Abbi as hardworking, compassionate, and caring, and he deeply admires her determination, her “never say die” heart. And Abbi lights up when she talks about how steady and giving Brody is.
Now, with their wedding on the horizon, Abbi is most excited to be surrounded by loved ones and to finally marry Brody! After all the planning, she can’t wait to see everything come together and celebrate the start of forever. Brody shared what he’s most looking forward to, seeing Abbi walk down the aisle and finally getting to call her his wife! I can already picture that moment, and I know it will be filled with all the emotions that have carried them from fireworks on the 4th of July to a proposal under a big oak tree, and now to the start of forever!
