I met Abby and Michael at University of Missouri in Columbia for their fall engagement session! The temperatures were warm and Abby and Michael showed up looking so adorable. I loved their giddiness and how easy it was to document their undeniable connection. It was a bit breezy that evening, but these two waited patiently between wind gusts and took the breezy weather in stride. You can tell these two are a perfect match. Their joy was contagious and I truly enjoyed spending an evening documenting their love and getting to know them both better.
From downtown Columbia to Stephens Lake Park, Abby and Michael’s session couldn’t have gone more perfectly. To top it all off, the fall colors were really showing off that evening! The trees were painted in the most vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow. It added an extra level of coziness to their session. I’m so excited to work with them again next year for their wedding day!
How They Met
Abby and Michael ran cross country and track together at Mizzou! It was almost a year after Michael hung up his spikes before they actually started talking. Their first date was November 8, 2020. Abby and Michael went to Andy’s Frozen Custard, because they both have a love for ice cream. The two of them sat outside for at least 4 hours that night talking. They even hung around chatting after Andy’s closed for the night. It went so well that Abby was hopeful that she and Michael would soon have a second date!
The two began officially dating and quickly knew they had found the one in each other. They both share the same values of faith, family and a love of sports!
How He Asked
Michael asked Abby’s parents for the honor of marrying her when they were all at Abby’s triathlon. She was distracted by a dachshund puppy. On July 26, 2024, Michael took Abby to dinner at Madison’s Cafe then for a walk to Adrian’s Island. It was there that he knelt on one knee and asked Abby for her hand and heart!
