Ashleigh + Trevor | Columbia, Missouri Engagement Session

I had the pleasure of documenting Ashleigh and Trevor’s engagement portraits just a few days after the proposal!  They chose Grindstone Nature Area in Columbia as the backdrop for their engagement session.  This natural oasis provided a perfect canvas for this conservation-loving couple.  Nestled amidst the vibrant fall colors that were still very much present, the setting was beautiful.  It was an evening filled with love, laughter, and even some silly and goofy moments!  Ashleigh and Trevor are such a darling pair and I couldn’t be any more excited for them!

How They Met

Ashleigh and Trevor met at Cooper County Quail Forever Banquet in March 2022.  A few months after meeting, Ashleigh stopped by Trevor’s house on a whim to hangout outside of work for the first time in late May of 2022.  They were fishing in an old farm pond, and Trevor decided to go for a swim.  Ashleigh thought he was crazy for getting into the muddy, algae covered water. That being said, she had to show off her country side that’s not afraid to get a little dirty, so Ashleigh jumped in too!  They laughed and swam around the pond with mud between their toes.  Ashleigh and Trevor eventually got out of the pond and dried off with towels on the front porch of the house.  They sat and talked in the warm, spring air and had their first kiss!  Ashleigh knew after their first date that Trevor was the “one” for her!

How He Asked

Ashleigh and Trevor went on vacation to south Texas to visit family and hunt Nilgai.  It was about 90 degrees outside and 95 degrees in the blind named “Trump Tower”.  They had seen several deer but nothing they were hunting for.  Ashleigh and Trevor were hot, sweaty, and ready for the sun to set.  Around 4:30pm, Trevor began to get restless and Ashleigh wasn’t sure why. About that time, a couple Javelina walked out of the brush, and Trevor encouraged Ashleigh to harvest one.  She wanted to wait for an opportunity for both of them to take one or keep waiting for a Nilgai.  Trevor wanted so badly for her to shoot and Ashleigh couldn’t understand why, so she didn’t.  Eventually, Trevor started to rummage around in his backpack, and Ashleigh kept looking out the blind windows.  Trevor called Ashleigh’s name, she turned her head, and there he was on a knee with a ring.  Ashleigh was stunned and completely taken by surprise!  Trevor said a few words and asked if Ashleigh would marry him!  With happy tears, she said yes!!  The javelina came back out and they each harvested one.
