My assistant Emily and I had the pleasure of meeting Casey and her fiance Lawson at the cutest little quaint park nestled in St. Louis, Missouri. Upon arriving to the park, we knew immediately that our evening was going to be spectacular! Queeny Park has so much to offer. Every direction you look, you are surrounded by breathtaking views. Pair a gorgeous surrounding with a couple that shares an undeniable connection, and you know you’re in for a great session. From the moment that Casey and Lawson arrived, they were amazing to work with! We were blessed with a beautiful summer evening with perfect temperatures. Casey and Lawson just fit together so effortlessly. The way he pulls in Casey is the sweetest thing to see. There’s no doubt these two are absolutely smitten by one another. As we captured portraits at the session, they acted as if were weren’t even there. It’s like they were in their own little world and it was darling to witness! I don’t think we’ve seen a guy make his future bride belly laugh as much as Lawson had Casey laughing in a long while. He knew all the right things to say to get Casey to have the most genuine and adorable reactions!
Their session was already starting on a high note, so when they arrived with their sweet pup EV, we were over the moon in excitement! Their doggo really knew how to put on a show for the cameras! She was just the cutest; we couldn’t get enough of her! We enjoyed spending time with these two as we strolled through the park stopping at all the pretty locations. There was no background that Casey and Lawson couldn’t bring to life with the sweet love they share! Casey and Lawson share a love that’s real and special and it’s evident when you scroll through their portraits just how true their connection really is. They are so wrapped up in one another, it’s like their love is in the clouds! It makes us so giddy for their upcoming May wedding day!
Their Love Story
Casey and Lawson met freshman year of college at Santa Clara University. They lived in the same dorm, Swig Hall. Casey was on the 4th floor, and Lawson was on the 8th floor. They don’t remember meeting, all they know is that they just ended up in the same friend group. Lawson never tried to flirt with Casey because she was in a relationship with someone else; he was sure of one thing though, and that was the fact that he had a crush on Casey. Once Casey and Lawson inevitably made their way to one another, they clicked instantly and knew early on that they had found everything they had both been searching for. They found characteristics in each other they didn’t even know they needed from a partner. They’ve spent a relationship full of hiking, backpacking, visit places they’ve never been to before, playing with their dog EV, driving around the countryside, and just enjoying each others company.
The Proposal
Earlier this year, Lawson knew it was time to propose to Casey. A few days before they moved from New Hampshire to Missouri, they went on a hike. They had planned it about a month in advance, and Lawson’s brother Blake, his wife Brandy, and their girls met them there for one last adventure. Lawson’s best friend Stephen also flew up from Georgia and was visiting. They decided to hike a mountain near by that they both liked, Mount Monadnock. It was a pretty cold and a VERY windy day, and the trail was covered in ice. At some point during the hike, Casey said “it’s a great hike, and it’s ok if we don’t make it all the way to the top” because their nieces are young and the conditions were poor. However, everyone was determined to make it to the top. They slid their way up the mountain, catching the girls as they slipped back down the trail.
When they finally reached the top, it was terrifyingly windy, but Lawson really wanted to take the girls up the fire tower so they very carefully climbed up the stairs to the very top. This was a place where Casey had once knelt down to jokingly propose to Lawson and nearly fallen backward down the stairs. Lawson tried to get Casey to tell this story to the girls as she was trying to get everyone to go back down the stairs since it was freezing. Casey turned around and Lawson was on his knee with a ring! Casey said yes right away and they then ran down the stairs. The girls were so excited! Somehow they had kept the secret! Brandy brought out little glasses and sparkling grape juice, and they all toasted to the newly engaged couple! At the bottom of the mountain, they had cookies, and then went out to lunch!
The session with Casey and Lawson was the cutest thing and we cannot wait to see them again for their wedding day as they are surrounded by all the ones they love! Casey and Lawson, Congratulations on your engagement. You two make a perfect pair! Enjoy some of our favorites from our time with them in St. Louis.
