We met with Darby and Toby in the beautiful downtown district for our first official fall session. They came dressed to impress and we instantly knew their session was going to be great! From the moment we began photographing Darby and Toby, it was so easy. They share a love that’s sweet and enduring! When they are together, there is no shortage of smiles and giggles. Toby kept Darby laughing for the majority of the evening as they strolled around downtown Columbia hand in hand. No matter what we asked them to do, Darby and Toby did so willingly and completely blew us away with their modeling skills!
Next we ventured to Darby’s family farm where we met them with their adorable pup Benni. He was so excited to be at the farm and immediately had a case of the “zoomies.” Benni raced around the property living his best life! We LOVE when couples bring their furry friends to sessions. You can definitely tell Benni is their pride and joy! He was cute as can be and listened every time we called his name. He really stole the show for a second there! We could have taken photos of him all night long! From beginning to end, our time with Darby and Toby was perfect. They are such a genuine pair and we adored getting to know them more. We are looking forward to their fall wedding next year!
Their Love Story
Darby and Toby first met in college when she was a freshman and he was a senior. Darby had just switched her major and was put in an intermediate excel class to fill a hole in her class schedule. Toby sat directly behind Darby in the class she was placed in. The two hit it off and met up for burgers at the little diner in their college. It was mid February, and they just talked and got to know a little bit more about each other and what they had in common. Darby was super nervous because Toby was so much older than her, but excited at the same time because she had a crush on him since the first day she walked in that class.
Darby somehow always felt like Toby was the one. She remembers taking him turkey hunting at her family farm. Toby was so excited to go experience new things and just learn to love things that Darby loves. He made it so easy for Darby to be herself, and they had so much fun that day!
Together, they love to do anything that involves being outdoors! They both love to fish, and Darby introduced Toby to hunting when they first met, so they are getting more into that now that they are not dating from a distance. Darby and Toby also love giving back to their church and are a part of a small group where they enjoy getting to know more people. They also love to watch sports. Toby is a die hard soccer, basketball and football fan, so their weekends are filled with sports!
How He Asked
Nearly three and a half years into their relationship, Toby knew it was time to pop the question to Darby! The darling pair spent the day at the college where they met where Toby would play in the alumni soccer game. He planned to propose there with all of their friends around, but he had forgotten the ring at home! So, when they got back home later that day, Darby was putting things away and Toby called her into the living room. When she made it to the living room, Toby immediately got down on one knee and just asked her to Marry him! Darby loved how sweet and intimate it was. Even their puppy Benni was so excited, and began howling right after Darby said YES! What a beautiful moment! Toby sure knew exactly what he was doing!
We couldn’t be any more excited for these two and this special season of life! We are looking forward to watching their love story unfold next September when they say their I Do’s in front of all the ones they love! Congratulations Darby and Toby!
