Emily & Nate | Columbia, Missouri Engagement Session

The weather this fall in Missouri has been quite dreary and wet, however, that wasn’t the case for Emily and Nate’s recent session!  These two got really luck and managed to have one of the warmest fall days we’ve had this year!  It was literally rainy and cloudy the day before, 85 degrees for their session, and then back to the 40s the following day!  The weather has been unpredictable and sporadic, but one thing was for sure during their session; Emily and Nate and their evident connection shined through all evening long.  Despite the hotter than normal temperatures, these two championed through the session like old pros!  We enjoyed strolling around one of my favorite parks in Columbia for the beginning of the session.  The sun was out in intervals during the duration of their session, sneaking back behind the clouds every now and then to allow Emily and Nate to cool off for a bit!  Emily and Nate are a lovely couple and it was easy to document their special connection!  They laughed and walked hand and hand the entire session as they modeled in front of gorgeous fall scenery.

We ventured to Stephen’s Lake Park for the remainder of the session where we photographed some of the prettiest fall colors we’ve seen in a long time.  Day by day, the leaves changing on the trees just keep getting prettier and prettier!  We stumbled upon a gorgeous tree in a field that was vibrant orange!  I knew Emily and Nate and their undeniable joyfulness would pair perfectly with the loud colors on the fall tree.  The scenery at Stephen’s Lake Park looks magical and with Emily and Nate there, we were sure to capture greatness!  I loved working with these two!  Both Emily and Nate are sweet as can be and I enjoyed getting to know them more.  I’m so looking forward to their wedding day at Emerson Fields next year!

How They Met

Nate and Emily met on Tinder in 2018! It must have been fate, because Emily rarely ever met Tinder boys in person, but for some reason, she decided to meet up with Nate…after only FOUR DAYS! Emily must have known he was somebody special!  Nate was living in Hermann, MO at the time, so on the day of their first date, he had taken off work and spent the day in Columbia waiting for Emily to get off work.  They were supposed to grab dinner at Cheddar’s together, but Emily wasn’t feeling very well that day.   She didn’t want to cancel, because he had already driven all the way to Columbia. So instead, the two went to the movies for a more relaxed vibe.  Emily and Nate decided to see the movie Red Sparrow, because who doesn’t love Jennifer Lawrence? What they didn’t know is that it was actually a super intense and GORY movie.  Emily was already not feeling well, so she ended up going to the bathroom twice to throw up. After the movie, they were in the parking lot and Nate leaned in to give her a kiss, and Emily gave him the smallest little peck (because you know, puke breath). He’s always said after that day, that he was so intrigued by Emily’s “modesty”!

Three weeks after Emily and Nate had started dating, Emily was out of town at her grandparent’s house for Easter. That day, she had a horrible migraine, and was not feeling well at all. Nate was supposed to come to Columbia that night when she got back into town, but Emily told him that he could just stay home, since she wasn’t feeling well and would just be going to bed.  Instead, Nate came to Columbia anyway, and took care of Emily that entire night.  Emily knew then that Nate was truly something special, because what guy would drive an hour to take care of his sick girlfriend who he’s known for a month?

How He Asked

Emily’s sister and her fiance had come home for the first time since they had gotten engaged!  They spent the day at Emily’s parents house hanging out with the family. Everybody decided they wanted to go for a walk in the park just up the road.  Everyone was walking through the park, when Nate’s 10 year old son, Gunner, came up behind Emily and said “Emily, will you marry dad?” Emily was immediately confused, and turned around to find Nate down on one knee, and her entire family with cameras out capturing the moment. It was perfect!!  Emily and Nate are the perfect pair and it’s obvious they are meant to be together!  I couldn’t be any more excited to share a peek into their engagement session gallery!  Congratulations you two! Enjoy some of my favorites.
