Emma + Sam | Jefferson City, Missouri Engagement Session

Emma and Sam are the loveliest pairing!  From the moment they arrived to their session, I knew photographing their connection would be effortless.  Emma and Sam have the sweetest dynamic and you cannot help but smile when you’re around these two!  They came dressed to impress and selected the prettiest of downtown backdrops that Jefferson City has to offer.  We strolled around the Missouri capitol grounds chasing the beautiful natural light!  Emma and Sam truly knocked their session out of the park.  They may have been nervous, but you cannot tell either of these two were nervous.  They look like such naturals in front of the camera.  It’s easy to do when you are having fun with the one you love!

To finish off the session, we headed to Emma’s family farm and a neighbor’s property.  I had the best time with Emma and Sam as we walked through fields of tall grass as the sun began to set.  Emma and Sam left their session on a high note as they stole sweet kisses in a gorgeous field behind the charming farm house.  You can catch me counting down the days for Emma and Sam’s wedding day next year!  I cannot wait to have this darling duo back in front of my camera.

How They Met

Emma and Sam went to high school together, but they never talked to each other.  Sam was at Rockhurst University (where Emma went to college) for a soccer tryout.  Emma was walking on campus and saw him on the soccer field. So she decided to reach out to him. The two would start off talking about Rockhurst and then they just never stopped talking.  Emma and Sam would soon go on a date.  Dinner and a movie would set the stage for a perfect first date!  Emma knew Sam was the one a couple months into their relationship. He instantly became her best friend.  She loves how he is such a sweet and caring person.  Emma feels like she can be 100% herself around him and being with Sam makes her so happy.  She knew Sam was the one when she couldn’t picture her life without him!  Sam told Emma he loved her about two months after they started dating. That was when he knew she was the one!  She quickly became Sam’s best friend and they were able to connect so easily.  Sam knew from that point on that he wanted to spend the rest of my life with Emma. special pair has been together now for 5.5 years!

How He Asked

Sam had received some Air Bnb gift cards for his graduation. So, he and Emma had been talking how they should take a weekend trip somewhere.  Emma and Sam have gone to Branson and Big Cedar a few times, and it’s one of their favorite places to get away.  Sam had to convince Emma to go away that weekend because it was her mom’s birthday.  Emma’s parents lied and said they were going to St. Louis for her mom’s birthday.  Emma and Sam got a little cabin near Table Rock Lake for the weekend, and Sam wanted to go to dinner at Top of the Rock. They decided to walk around Big Cedar for a little bit before dinner.  Emma and Sam made our way over to the small chapel at Big Cedar. In front of the chapel, Sam got down on a knee and proposed!  A photographer who he hired was hiding in the bushes and captured the whole thing. Next thing Emma knew, she turned around and her family was coming up over the hill.  Sam completely surprised Emma with the proposal and bringing her family down to celebrate it all!  Sam put so much effort and planning into it to make it so special!
