We joined Jade and Matt this week for a fun evening spent at his parents family farm! What a perfect location choice it was because all of their images are beautiful! Jade and Matt look cute as ever in the farm setting! We love how easy going and comfortable these two are around one another! It took them no time at all to warm up to the camera! Knowing that Jade and Matt are both more shy and reserved at first, we we surprised how quickly these two became naturals in front of the camera. When you share a connection like these to do, it’s so easy to capture their love!
Jade and Matt made our time with them so fun. Every time we directed them into a new pose or gave them a new prompt, they did so effortlessly! It’s no secret these two are crazy about each other! When they look in one another’s eyes, it’s as if they are the only two people in the world. Give us a couple like Jade and Matt any day who are so in love, and the time will just fly by. Matt drove us all around the property to many spots he and Jade had previously scouted a few days before. Every time we stopped at a new location, we were in heaven. There is just something about a couple madly in love in a woodsy setting!
The only downfall about shooting in the woods in the spring time is all the bugs and ticks. Jade and Matt luckily managed to stay untouched by the critters- not sure how this happened, but I’m so glad it did. I however, was having a mini melt down once I realized just how many ticks were crawling all over me. Last summer, after being sick for several months and no doctor being able to figure out what was wrong with me, they finally ran a test and diagnosed me with Lyme disease a few days later. I was never aware of just how awful ticks were and how one tick bite can alter your life so much. It’s been a long road to recovery, but I’ve finally been doing better, so it should be no surprise just how terrified I am now about ticks!
Jade and Matt got a kick out of my fear of ticks because I was screaming and making quite the scene, telling Devin to get them off of me. Once we left the tick infested area, all was well, and I was back on my game! It was a little questionable there for a second as I felt like I might come out of my own skin. I’m glad I could provide some comic relief for these two love birds, because during my tick frenzy, I managed to capture some of their most genuine smiles and laughter! I guess whatever you gotta do to get the shot- even if it involves you making a fool of yourself!
Despite the little tick fiasco, this session ended on such a high note! We loved getting to know Jade and Matt better as a couple and adored watching the session unfold in such a beautiful way. We just love all of Jade and Matt’s images and had a really hard time narrowing down their portraits for this post! They are just so smitten with one another, every image is great!
Their Love Story
Matt and knew of each other for years during their childhood as they both attended Blair Oaks and rode the same bus for many years. They didn’t officially meet and begin dating until after high school. Both Jade and Matt were invited to a mutual friend’s wedding in October of 2015. Jade came back into town from college for the wedding and didn’t have a date. At the wedding dinner, Jade cut in the dinner line with Jordan because she recognized him (He had fixed the cooler at the restaurant where she worked at a couple weeks earlier.) Standing in the dinner line with Jordan was Matt. Fast forward to the reception dance, and Jordan would take Jade out on the dance floor to ask Jade a life changing question! Jordan asked, “So, do you like my friend Matt, or what?” And the rest is history!
Shortly after, the pair would share their first date in Columbia where Jade was living for college. Jade made Matt dinner. They were both really nervous in the beginning because they are both pretty shy. Their more reserved personalities didn’t deter them from hitting it off. They enjoyed each others company and talked all night. They loved how comfortable they were able to be around each other from the beginning. Jade says she could completely be her self around Matt. They both felt it was exactly what they had been searching for! Matt stuck with Jade through some really tough times early on in their relationship and has never had anything but love and support for her. Jade loves that Matt is truly her biggest fan and has been her rock from the beginning. Matt realized early on in the relationship that Jade was the One! He remembers thinking he would marry her one day just six months into their relationship! How romantic!
It’s clear to see these two are a match made in heaven! They love to have fun together by attending KC Cheifs games, Blues games, and Cardinals games. They also love to be out on the river in the summer. One of their most favorite spots is Dave’s Tavern, where Jade and Matt love to hang out with friends and family. With Matt’s generous, and kind heart, and Jade’s ability to never give up on anything, it’s no surprise these two balance each other out perfectly.
How He Asked
A little over three years into the relationship, and Matt knew it was time to ask Jade to be his fiance. Jade remembers Matt being in a weird mood when he got home from working on the farm that day, but she couldn’t figure out why. They were watching football in the living room of the house they share together just before leaving for Church. Matt ran downstairs quickly to get something. When he returned, the next thing Jade remembers is Matt being down on one knee in front of her! Afterwards, they went to church, dinner, and celebrated at Dave’s since their favorite band was there that night! A perfect way to end the perfect night! We coudln’t be any more excited and happy for these two! We are looking forward to having them back in front of our cameras for their August wedding day! Congrats again you too! Enjoy some of our favorites from their Tuesday spring engagement session!
