Jayme & Ryan | Jefferson City, Missouri Engagement Sesssion

I met with Jayme and Ryan downtown in Jefferson City, Missouri for their engagement session.  These two absolutely blew me away from the moment they pulled up.  Jayme and Ryan came dressed to impress and had the most infectious smiles all evening long.  From the beginning of the session, I knew these two had a very special connection!  The giddiness they both have around one another is cute as can be!  Ryan had Jayme laughing the majority of the session, and it’s no secret Jayme has a smile that will light up a room.  I adored their undeniable chemistry!  Jayme and Ryan are such naturals in front of the camera.  They warmed up so quickly that it’s as if I wasn’t even there documenting their connection.  I truly had the best time venturing around downtown JC with this adorable pair!  Their energy is so lively and fun and my job so easy.

For the last location, we traveled to Taos, Missouri where Ryan’s parents reside.  They have the most gorgeous property with rolling hills and a large pond. It was the perfect spot to end the session.  Jayme and Ryan coupled with the dreamy light made for the most stunning portraits.  My favorite moment of the evening was when I asked them to frolic through the field, and Ryan immediately smiled and said, “I was hoping you would have us do that!”  I love when couples are excited for their portraits and they are up for anything.  Jayme and Ryan are one-of-a-kind and I am counting down the days to their wedding day!  July cannot come soon enough.

How They Met

Jayme and Ryan first met when she was a sophomore in high school at 16 and Ryan was a senior in high school at the age of 18.  Jayme started spending more time with her cousin in Wardsville, and she spent a lot of time at Ryan’s family’s shop, which is where Jayme first met Ryan!  She remembers being instantly attracted to his confidence & silly personality.

Ryan took Jayme to Dairy Queen for their first date!  Jayme remembers feeling all the feels – anxious, nervous and so happy.  Ryan pulled up to the window to pay, and handed Jayme his card while he grabbed their ice cream.  Jayme was so nervous that she snapped his card in half fidgeting with it… classic.  He just laughed it off like it was no biggie, but Jayme was so embarrassed.  They drove back to her car, which was in the Schulte’s parking lot.  He walked Jayme over to her car, although neither of them were ready to say goodbye.  They decided to just sit and talk for a bit. Before they knew it, that little bit of chatting quickly turned into a couple hours… resulting in Jayme’s car dying.  So they had to go to her house to get jumper cables which was the first time Ryan met Jayme’s mom and sister.  Since he had to jump her car, Jayme was sure that Ryan would never talk to her ever again. Boy was she wrong.

Ryan and Jayme  knew pretty quickly that they never wanted to lose each other.  They were very young and Jayme was terrified for him to go off to college, thinking he would for sure forget about her.  Because of this, Jayme remained guarded for awhile.  Ryan quickly proved otherwise and showed Jayme that she was a priority to him.  She never felt uneasy when he was away at college while she was still at home in high school… She knew he was the one then!

How He Asked

After dating for six years, Ryan knew it was time to propose to Jayme!  It was the day after their dating anniversary so Ryan asked if Jayme wanted to go to dinner.  They were unable to go to dinner on their actual dating anniversary because they had to attend Jayme’s sister’s surprise 30th birthday party!  Jayme was so caught up in helping plan the party for her sister that a proposal never crossed her mind once! While they were at dinner, Jayme’s brother, who was in town from Minnesota for the surprise party, asked if they could go see the new house they were building together.  So after dinner,  Jayme and Ryan met him, her sister, and brother-in-law there to give them a tour of the excavated layout.  As Jayme walked up to the basement with them, written out in rocks was “Marry Me?”  It was so perfect because not only was it in the spot that they will grow their family and make many memories, but both of their families were there to celebrate with them! The surprise continued when Jayme and Ryan pulled up to his house to a line of all of their family & friends cheering & awaiting a surprise celebration that evening! Best. Day. Ever.

Jayme and Ryan are quite literally the perfect pair.  It’s evident they balance one another out and fit perfectly into each others lives.  We couldn’t be any more excited for these two and we cannot wait to celebrate their love story in July!  Enjoy our favorites from the session.  Many, many more to come!
