Kelly and Eric are the sweetest pair and I had so much fun exploring Kansas City with them for their engagement session! From the moment the session began, I knew my job was going to be so easy and effortless with these two in front of my camera. Kelly and Eric warmed up really quickly and their undeniable connection shined through all evening long. They strolled hand-in-hand, laughing and giggling along the way as we followed the golden light! We stoped at Up Down and they enjoyed beers while overlooking the beautiful cityscape.
Next, we traveled to Union Station and Liberty WWI Memorial area. Kelly and Eric put on their fancier attire which complemented the locations perfectly. The golden light was so dreamy on Friday night as I documented their adorable love! It was so hard to stop taking portraits of them as they basked in the most beautiful sunset light. Kelly and Eric are such naturals and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their session!
How They Met
Kelly and Eric met in 2021 at a bar in Power and Light and they spent the whole day together with friends. They have mutual friends from college that were in town. Kelly’s friend is now married to Eric’s friend. At the time, her friend was just engaged and she was telling Kelly that her husband (Fiance at the time) has one single friend that was going to be there that she thought Kelly would really like! If it wasn’t for her friend mentioning that, Kelly probably wouldn’t have talked to Eric or paid any attention, but she purposely sat across from Eric at dinner. Unfortunately, the two didn’t talk at all. Later in the night, they finally talked and Eric got Kelly’s number! The next day, Kelly and her friend joked that she and Eric wouldn’t see each other again until her friend’s wedding (which was a few months away).
About a week or two after meeting, Kelly and Eric met up for their first date! They met in the crossroads at a restaurant called Rockhill Grill. Kelly was about 20 minutes late and Eric was so nice about it. They had a nice dinner and drinks and then went to a little hidden speakeasy bar called Swordfish Toms and had a nice cocktail together. Kelly remembers being pretty impressed that Eric was going to nicer places. Her friend had described him as super country so she felt like they both had a lot in common being able to do both country things and enjoy the city together. After the cocktails, Kelly and Eric went to Up Down arcade bar and played games and talked for a while longer. They both felt so comfortable and like we had a lot in common! Neither of them would have ever imagined that being the first date with the person they were going to be marrying! It was just so fun and effortless for them!
How He Asked
Kelly and Eric were in Chicago for the Morgan Wallen concert the night before with the same couple that introduced them! The whole morning, they were planning around going to the Navy Pier, which Kelly was very confused about. She was so oblivious to everything. Kelly and Eric’s friends were walking so far behind them (waiting for it to happen) and Kelly felt bad for leaving them behind. At the end of the pier, Eric asked Kelly to take a photo and that’s when she got so suspicious because they already took photos on the Pier. Kelly remembers just being in shock! Eric started crying while proposing and it just meant so much to Kelly and is something she’ll never forget! Everyone on the Pier started cheering! It was so sweet.
