I met up with Maggie and Daniel for their engagement portraits on a very hot and humid August evening! Her mom even brought their two sweet pups, Mak and Bella, and man were they just the cutest pups you ever did see! Maggie and Daniel were such troopers throughout the session as we endured very humid conditions. Despite the hot temps, Maggie and Daniel were willing to do anything and everything to get the shot. We strolled around Capen Park stopping at all the pretty spots along the way. Next, we ventured to downtown Columbia for our final stop of the night. Maggie and Daniel were all smiles and adorable as can be throughout the entirety of the session. I’m so excited to photograph them and their sweet connection again for the wedding day!
How They Met
Maggie & Daniel first met while both working at HyVee in Columbia! He definitely made the first move, but it wasn’t long before Maggie gave in. They would soon share their first date at Teller’s, downtown. Maggie and Daniel went out with some friends, but kind of separated from the group and ended up doing their own thing! The conversation flowed easily and it wasn’t awkward at all! Eventually, Maggie and Daniel began dating and enjoy traveling, going to movies together, and hanging out with their two dogs, Mak and Bella.
How He Asked
Maggie claims the tale of their engagement is interesting one. Maggie and Daniel were already living in Topeka, KS at this point, but one weekend Daniel suggested they go back to Columbia to hang out with their friends. So, Maggie requested the weekend off of work and they were on their way! Flash forward to Saturday night, Maggie, Daniel, and 3 of her best friends were going to the big tree area (that bridge kinda right by the big tree). They were planning on going to dinner after, so they got all dressed up for the evening.
They went to the big tree and then Maggie realized something was up, but she wasn’t sure what. However, Daniel actually ended up misplacing the ring (YIKES). So, him and Maggie’s best friend/MOH, Lucy, were scrambling around looking for it. But they realized it wasn’t anywhere in the truck, so Daniel was like “I want to change my shirt, let’s go to Kohl’s.” So with Maggie not knowing what was going on, they headed to Kohl’s and Daniel ran in and bought like a tiny cheap little ring. Then they drove downtown to meet up with their friends for dinner at Cherry Street Cellar. Right in front of the restaurant, Daniel popped the question. All in all, it did NOT go as planned. However, it’s funny to look back on and laugh about!
