Some love stories begin with fireworks from the very first meeting, but Megan and Alex’s started a little differently and maybe that’s what makes it so beautiful. These two don’t even remember the exact moment they first met! It was sometime during their freshman year of high school, when life was all about new beginnings and friendships forming. They eventually found themselves in the same friend group, a circle that lasted all through high school, college, and even beyond.
For years, they were simply good friends. So much so that Megan even proudly served as Alex’s “wing woman” during their college days (a role she now jokes she’s retired from). Neither of them had any idea that the person who would one day become their forever was standing right beside them through it all!
But Alex, as it turns out, had always known.
Their First Date
Alex had asked Megan out multiple times over the years, and each time she turned him down, not because she didn’t adore him, but because she saw him as one of her best guy friends. Finally, after about five tries, Alex decided he’d give it one more shot, and if she said no, he would simply stick to being her friend!
That last time, Megan surprised him with a yes!
Alex invited her over to watch one of her favorite fall movies at his apartment. It was casual, simple, and perfectly them! They laughed and joked the way they always had as friends, but something felt different, something more! Megan says she realized she had only known half of Alex before that night, and the more time they spent together, the more she began to see him in a completely new light!
From Alex’s side, he was beyond pumped! He couldn’t believe Megan finally said yes and he was determined to make the evening the best time possible! It turned out exactly as he had hoped, and he was already on cloud nine planning their next date.
That first “yes” turned into a relationship they now celebrate each April!
Knowing They Were the One
For Alex, it was simple: “I knew I wanted to marry Megan before we even started dating.”

The Proposal
The backstory begins with Megan’s grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary. Her family had gathered for photos to mark the occasion, but her brother couldn’t make it that day because he was sick. Months later, her best friends suggested a girls night at the Lake of the Ozarks, complete with a fancy dinner and a fun evening together! Megan thought nothing of it since it was just a normal plan with her closest friends!
Meanwhile, Alex had a different plan in motion.
He had convinced Megan’s family to tell her they wanted to redo family photos so that her brother could finally be included. Knowing Megan’s plans at the lake would conflict, he intentionally arranged the timing so she’d suggest an earlier slot, making it seem like her idea. That little twist of “reverse psychology” worked perfectly!
On the day of the “family photos,” they returned to her grandparents property, a place deeply special to Megan. The photographer suggested couple portraits, just as they had done months earlier, and Alex played the part of the reluctant boyfriend, complaining about taking pictures, just like before. But this time, instead of simply posing, Alex dropped to one knee and told Megan just how much she meant to him! And Megan said, YES!
The best part? She wasn’t going to the lake at all. Her family and closest friends, including some who had flown in just for the occasion, were waiting to celebrate! They partied late into the night, making memories Megan describes as unforgettable.
Megan and Alex’s relationship is filled with simple joys. They love to travel, cook meals together (Alex takes on the meat while Megan perfects the sides and dessert), and spend quiet evenings just talking about everything and nothing at all.
