Megan + Connor | Kanas City, Missouri Engagement Session

I’ve had the pleasure of working for the Liebhart’s a few times now!  I photographed Connor’s sisters wedding and then his cousin’s wedding as well!  So when Megan reached out to me about the possibility of documenting her and Connor’s special day, I was SO excited!  I love any opportunity I get to work with a repeat family again!  And the Liebhart’s have been nothing short of amazing to me over the last few years!

Kansas City, Missouri is one of my favorite city’s!  I love any chance I get to visit the beautiful city; so when Megan asked about the possibility for photographing their engagement session in KC,  I was all for it!  Megan and Connor chose such perfect locations for the romantic engagement session!  I met Megan and Connor in downtown Kansas City at Union Station for the start of their session.  The weather was absolutely beautiful.  You truly couldn’t ask for a more perfect evening.  We snapped a few portraits around Union Station and then strolled across the street to the Liberty WW1 Memorial.  From the top of the memorial, you can see the Kansas City skyline.  A perfect backdrop for gorgeous portraits!

Megan and Connor warmed up to the camera immediately!  Their connection was undeniable and so easy to document!  They came dressed to impress and wasted no time at all before their giddiness took over the session!  I had so much fun capturing their love and taking in all the scenic city views with these two!  For the final location, we headed outside of town to Parkville, Missouri.  English Landing Park was the perfect spot to meet up with their pup, Millie!  She was a bit hyper at first, but she too warmed up to the camera quickly and stole the show.  The golden sunset glow was so beautiful and made for the perfect ending to the session!

I know one thing is for sure, I’ll be counting down the days until I get to work with these two again!  They are sweet as can be and after hanging out with them, you’ll leave feeling like you just made good friends!

How They Met

Megan went to Mizzou to study education.  She worked with Connor’s mom, Trina for a year while she was student teaching!  Over that time, Megan developed a very close relationship with Trina, but Connor was at Missouri State at the time. After graduation Megan and Connor both moved to Kansas City!  Megan followed Connor on Instagram and he reached out!

Megan and Connor met up in Kansas City to get pizza at Minsky’s and then drinks at Harry’s Country Club in late June of 2021.  Megan was immediately smitten but she couldn’t get a read on Connor.  Turns out Connor was into Megan and the two began dating!  Megan was pretty certain Connor was the one once they spent time around both families which was only a month or two into them dating.  Family is so important to both of them so Megan wanted to make sure it felt right being around the families together.

How He Asked

Megan and Connor went ring shopping in August 2023 so Megan knew that engagement was in the near future!  Fast forward to June 2024, Megan’s family was all in town (including her brother and his girlfriend from Seattle) to hang out at a cabin outside of Kansas City.  On Friday night, Megan’s cousin showed up so she became suspicious that something was up.  But Megan kept telling herself that she wasn’t getting engaged because Connor’s family had something going on in Columbia on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, Megan went shopping with her mom and cousin.  When they got home, Megan saw a picture and note set up for her!  The picture was of Megan and Connor + their dog, Millie.  It is Megan’s favorite picture of them.  The note said, “I know this is your favorite picture, meet me where it was taken. I have a surprise for you!”  At that point, Megan knew what was happening!  She immediately got emotional as she drove to Loose Park in Kanas City.  When Megan got to Loose Park, her sister, Annie, took her to meet Connor!  He popped the question there and it was absolutely perfect!  Connor and Megan went to J. Rieger Co to grab a drink just the two of them to celebrate!  Connor told Megan he had another surprise and that they weren’t actually going out to dinner with their families.  They head back to their house “to change” but really, there was a backyard party with all of Megan and Connor’s family and friends there!
