Megan and Ryan’s engagement session was everything a spring evening should be — warm sun, soft breezes, and a whole lot of love! The weather showed off with perfect temperatures and glowing golden light that filtered through the portraits in all the best ways! Jefferson City offered the perfect backdrop; from blooming spring trees, to historic architecture, every scene added a romantic touch to the already-sweet occasion! As the sun set and the last few frames were captured, it was clear that Megan and Ryan share something incredibly special!
Though Ryan confessed early on that he’s not a big fan of being in front of the camera, you’d never guess it from the images. Once the session got rolling, he settled into the moment with Megan by his side, and their connection took center stage! The two of them were giddy, playful, and so fun to be around. They share the kind of chemistry that is so easy to document!
How They Met
Megan and Ryan’s story began long before their first official date! In fact, they’ve known each other for most of their lives. Both attended St. George for grade school and later shared the halls of high school together. Ryan recalls first noticing Megan all the way back in their grade school days, though it wasn’t until high school that their connection truly began to grow!
They started dating when Ryan was a junior and Megan was a sophomore. Their first date took place in 2017, a sweet and simple evening of pizza and ice cream . Megan remembers feeling a mix of nerves and excitement, but as the night went on and their conversation flowed, she relaxed and found herself having a genuinely great time!
Their relationship has grown and evolved over the years, even weathering a breakup. But it was during that time apart that Megan realized something deeply important: every quiet moment, every song, and every familiar memory led her back to Ryan. She missed his laugh, his steady advice, and the way he had a way of making even the most ordinary days feel special. It was in that season of reflection that she knew, Ryan was the one!
Ryan, in turn, admires so much about Megan! He describes her as compassionate, someone who is always there with a helping hand or a listening ear! She’s ambitious, always setting new goals and chasing them with heart and determination. And perhaps most sweetly, he notes how thoughtful she is, from remembering his favorite snack to never missing an important date!
Now, after years of shared memories and growing up side by side, Megan and Ryan will begin the next chapter of their lives together, and it all started in the little classrooms of St. George.
How He Asked
It was a sunny February day that started like many others, Megan had a morning gym session with her sister followed by a walk with her friend, Amanda. Megan had no idea that her life was about to change!
Ryan had told her they needed to head to the lake to pick up a broken washer from his family’s lake house. But before tackling that errand, he wanted to take her out for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. He mentioned it would be somewhere fancy, so Megan got dressed up for what she thought was going to be a special but low-key evening!
On the drive to the lake, Megan casually asked, “Do you even want to marry me?” Ryan, ever calm, simply replied, “Yes — your time is coming, just give it time.” She had no idea that just five minutes later, he’d be down on one knee.
When they pulled up to the Bagnell Dam Overlook, Megan spotted one of their good friends waiting, there to secretly capture the moment! Ryan proposed with the most stunning view behind them, and the entire scene was more perfect than she could have imagined!
But the surprises didn’t stop there! After the proposal, Ryan had planned a celebratory dinner with both of their parents. It was intimate, thoughtful, and full of love! The perfect start to their next chapter together.
