Ellie and Chance were married on November 12 in Versailles, Missouri. The Legacy Barn set the stage for the beautiful affair. Earlier in the week, the temperatures were in the 80s. But as Missouri weather would have it, temps dropped in the low 30s for their wedding day. Pair frigid temps with a fierce wind and you’ve got very cold conditions to work in. From the moment I arrived, I knew the day would be a great one. Excitement filled the air and Chance’s boisterous laugh could be heard all throughout the barn. Everyone welcomed me in like family.
I got to work photographing the bridal details in the cutest room in the upstairs loft area. The girls and guys were both getting ready for the day in the adjoining rooms. Ellie had the prettiest of details and I loved every second of styling them. Next, we joined Chance in the groom getting ready room with both of his parents. His dad helped with the jacket and made adjustments to the tie, making sure Chance looked handsome. His mom, Linda added a boutonnière and teared up as she was giving him advice for his marriage. Back in the bride getting ready area, Ellie had just finished up with hair and makeup. It was time to get her into the stunning gown.
Ellie’s sister and mom helped fasten her into the gown. Ellie looked absolutely stunning! She was glowing and overflowing with happiness for the day! You could hear Chance’s laughter from the next door room, and Ellie just lit up and smiled every time she heard his laughter, saying, “That’s the love of my life!” I didn’t photograph their engagement session, so I had not previously worked with Ellie and Chance. I knew they would be so easy to work with because they both spoke so highly of one another. Documenting their sweet connection would be a breeze.
After getting ready, we went outside for groomsmen portraits and bridesmaid portraits. The temperatures were frigid and the wind was something else. Everyone braved the cold for us just before the ceremony. The laughter and smiles were present all throughout portraits. Ellie and Chance have such a great group of family and friends surrounding them. Back inside, it was almost time for the ceremony. Chance was ushered down the aisle by both his mom and dad. He stood on the stage anxiously awaiting the arrival of his bride. As soon as the doors opened, Chance had the biggest smile on his face and twinkle in his eyes. You could see just how much he truly adores Ellie as she made her way down the aisle, escorted by her father.
Ellie and Chance shared in a sweet and intimate ceremony inside the barn! They both looked so giddy and excited during the ceremony. They sealed the ceremony with a kiss and were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Cumpton. They happily dashed back up the aisle, Chance fist bumping everyone in sight! Cheers and applause erupted from family and friends as the newlyweds looked excited as ever. We took family formals inside while the coordinators were flipping the space from the ceremony set up to the reception layout. It was now time for bride and groom portraits. While I was so eager to finally have these two in front of my camera, I was not excited about the very cold temperatures.
We bundled up and headed out for some romantic bride and groom portraits. I really admired Chance and Ellie for their perseverance outside in the cold. They were such troopers sticking out the weather for portraits. These two are incredibly in love! The way the look at one another is magnetic. They are always stealing sweet kisses and holding each other. It was the sweetest thing to witness. We braved the cold for as long as we possibly could before Ellie got way too cold. Once she was able to warm up a bit, we popped back outside to take a few quick bridal party portraits with the entire group. It was gloomy out, but this group kept it fun and lively!
Back inside the barn, guests were waiting for the bridal party to be announced in. When the DJ announced the newest Mr. & Mrs. Cumpton into the room, guests rose to their feet cheering on the newlyweds. Dinner was enjoyed by all, toasts were made, and the cake was cut. Ellie and Chance shared their first dance, always gazing into each other’s eyes the entirety of the song. We adored this madly in love couple! The party got kicked off on the dance floor and guests spent the night catching up and dancing the night away. It was one perfect day from beginning to end.
Ellie and Chance, thank you so much for allowing me and my team the special privilege of getting a front row seat to your day! We felt so honored to be documenting day one of your marriage! We know you two will accomplish amazing things together as you begin this new journey as husband and wife. Cheers the Mr. & Mrs. Cumpton!
