Ellen and Andrew’s wedding day felt like the very definition of spring! It was fresh, joyful, and full of color in all the best ways! From the very beginning, there was this peaceful excitement in the air, the kind that lets you know something really special is about to unfold.
The morning started at The Loft at The Millbottom in Jefferson City, where Ellen and her girls were getting ready. The space was filled with soft light pouring through the windows and laughter echoing through the getting ready space. Everything felt calm, but underneath it all was this quiet excitement that built as the morning went on. I spent some time capturing Ellen’s details, each one thoughtfully chosen and full of personality! The pops of bright spring color were everywhere, tying everything together so beautifully and setting the tone for the entire day!
Before slipping into her dress, Ellen and her bridesmaids shared a few sweet moments together, posing in their robes and soaking it all in. Then came the moment, Ellen stepping into her gown with the help of her mom. It was one of those scenes that just slows everything down. Her dress was timeless and elegant, and as the final touches came together with her jewelry and her veil, she completely transformed into the most radiant bride! She couldn’t stop smiling, but at the same time, the emotions kept washing over her in waves. It was written all over her face how much this day meant!
Just outside, near the large Millbottom windows, her dad waited for their first look. Before he even turned around, Ellen was already tearing up! The second he saw her, everything hit at once. They embraced in the warmest hug, and you could just see the pride in his eyes as he looked at his daughter. It was one of those moments that doesn’t need words. Ellen gifted him a special handkerchief, and the two of them stood there smiling through tears, it was incredibly sweet and something I know they’ll both hold onto forever!
Afterward, we made our way to the Missouri State Capitol for portraits. The sky had that soft spring glow, and just as we finished up bridesmaid photos, a light mist started to fall, perfect timing . It passed quickly, and we met up with the guys on the opposite side of the Capitol. The groomsmen brought such a fun, easy energy to the afternoon, making everything feel effortless and relaxed.
From there, we headed to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville for the ceremony. As Ellen walked down the aisle, emotion completely took over. You could see it in every step she took. Andrew, waiting at the altar, couldn’t hold back either, watching his bride come toward him, it all became real! Their Catholic ceremony was meaningful and heartfelt, filled with tradition as they exchanged vows and rings. And when they finally sealed it with a kiss, the joy in the room was undeniable! They practically floated back up the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Hecky while family and friends cheered them on!!
After family photos, we made our way back to the Capitol, and walked right into a sea of prom dresses in every direction. Multiple schools were there taking photos, and suddenly the entire area was buzzing with people. It was a little chaotic, but honestly kind of fun. We navigated through the crowds, finding little pockets of quiet space, and somehow you’d never know there were hundreds of people just steps away. Ellen and Andrew made it so easy since they’re naturally so connected and playful with each other. Every moment with them felt genuine and effortless!
Before heading back to The Millbottom, they made a quick stop at a local bar for one of their favorite traditions, lunch boxes and leaving behind a dollar bill with their names on the wall. It was such a fun, personal touch and one of those little moments that made the day feel even more “them.”
Back at the reception, guests stood to their feet as Ellen and Andrew were introduced for the first time as husband and wife. The energy in the room shifted instantly. It was pure celebration! They went right into cutting the cake, followed by heartfelt toasts that had everyone laughing, tearing up, and everything in between. Dinner was shared, stories were told, and the room felt so full of love!
Afterward, Ellen and Andrew surprised everyone with a choreographed first dance that was impressive and so fun to watch. It perfectly reflected who they are together, intentional, joyful, and completely in sync! As the evening continued, we snuck away for golden hour, and it was everything you’d hope for. The light was soft and glowy, wrapping around them as they ran through the streets near the Capitol, completely lost in the moment! It was the perfect ending to such a full and beautiful spring day!
Ellen and Andrew are truly something special! The way they love each other is easy, genuine, and so full of joy! It was an absolute honor to document the beginning of their marriage, and I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to kick off the 2026 wedding season.
Ellen and Andrew, thank you for allowing me and my team the opportunity to witness it all! You two have been amazing to work with and I cannot thank you both enough for such a fun day! Wishing you the absolute best as you begin this new chapter as Mr. & Mrs. Hecky!
