As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless love stories unfold through my lens, but Emily and Nathan’s wedding last Saturday at Kempker’s Back 40 was extra special to me. You see, I’ve known Emily for over a decade, and our journey from coworkers at YoYums to her becoming a stunning bride has been nothing short of amazing. The bond we’ve shared over the years made capturing her big day an absolute joy!!
The day began with a touch of overcast weather, which provided a gentle breeze that kept everyone comfortable. Emily, her mom, and her bridesmaids gathered in the bunk house to prepare for the day ahead. It was here that Emily’s mom gifted her a beautiful white robe made from her own wedding dress, a touching moment that brought tears to both their eyes. Their mother-daughter bond is something truly special. After getting ready, Emily had a heartwarming first look with her dad, followed by him gifting her with a bracelet made with diamonds from her grandmother’s jewelry.
Meanwhile, Nathan and his groomsmen were up the hill at a nearby house, getting ready in their own lively way. Before the ceremony, we captured bridal party portraits without Emily and Nathan seeing each other, as they had opted for a first touch instead of a first look. They held hands around the corner of the barn and exchanged heartfelt letters, professing their love and promises to one another.
The outdoor ceremony was set against the rustic backdrop of the Kempker’s Back 40 Barn, with stunning floral arrangements adorning the aisle. The officiant’s humor had everyone in stitches, creating a light-hearted and fun atmosphere. Emily and Nathan sealed their vows with a kiss and walked back up the aisle as Mr. & Mrs. Peters. Following the ceremony, we completed family formals before heading to a picturesque field on the property for bridal party and bride and groom portraits. Just in time, the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, casting a warm golden glow on Emily and Nathan during their romantic portraits. Their genuine connection made capturing their love effortless!
After the portraits, it was time for cake-cutting, heartfelt toasts, and a delicious taco dinner. A predicted storm loomed, threatening sunset portrait time. Determined not to miss this magical moment, we rushed out to the dock and captured as many portraits as possible before dark clouds rolled in and the pouring rain began.
Emily and Nathan’s first dance was moved from the patio to under the pavilion due to the rain, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the newlyweds and their guests! The evening ended with a champagne pop, lots of dancing, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Emily and Nathan’s wedding was a true celebration of love, family, and friendship, and I’m grateful to have been a part of their special day. I couldn’t be happier for this incredible couple as they embark on this new chapter of their lives as husband and wife. Here’s to a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and countless beautiful moments together. Cheers Mr. & Mrs. Peters!
