What a truly special day it was photographing Kennedy and Logan’s wedding at Capital Bluffs in Jefferson City. From the personal touches to the intimate atmosphere, their wedding was a beautiful reflection of their love for each other and the people closest to them.
Kennedy and Logan chose Capital Bluffs for their big day—a location that perfectly matched the elegance and charm of their celebration. The venue was immaculate, with blush pink and navy decor arranged by Kennedy and her mom. Together, they created a dreamy, sophisticated atmosphere. Friends of the couple were busy adding the final touches to the ceremony arbor, adorning it with baby’s breath and white roses, which turned out to be an elegant and timeless focal point for the ceremony!
One of the decisions Kennedy and Logan made was to forgo a bridal party, choosing instead to keep the focus entirely on them. This allowed for a slower pace throughout the day, more time for the couple to be present and truly savor every moment together. It was a refreshing change of pace, and I loved having the opportunity to capture a wedding where everything was centered on the couple’s connection.
The morning began with Logan getting ready in the groom’s room, where he spent time writing his vows. His dad helped him with the final touches, and soon Logan was suited up, looking sharp and ready to marry the love of his life. Meanwhile, Kennedy was with her mom and a dear friend, getting ready. After she was all fastened into her gown and the veil placed perfectly in her hair, her mom’s proud gaze said it all. The love and admiration she felt for her daughter was palpable!
One of my favorite moments from the day was when Kennedy shared a special first look with her grandmother, Marilyn. As someone who has a very close bond with my own grandmother, this was such an emotional moment for me to witness. Kennedy had a sweet surprise for her grandmother that brought tears to my eyes. Since Kennedy’s grandfather is no longer with us, she had sewn a piece from one of his blue shirts into the shape of a heart, placing it under one of the layers of her dress. It was a meaningful way to keep a part of him with her on her wedding day! When Marilyn saw the heart and recognized it, the moment was incredibly emotional for both of them, and I could feel how much love and meaning was behind this gesture.
The moment Logan had been waiting for had finally arrived! Out on the balcony at Capital Bluffs, Logan was positioned and ready to see his bride for the first time. Kennedy stepped onto the balcony, gently tapped him on the shoulder, and when he turned around, the emotion was instant. Logan pulled Kennedy into the biggest hug, and the two of them exchanged private vows that had Kennedy fighting back tears. It was such a tender and intimate moment.
The ceremony was simple but incredibly meaningful, with Kennedy’s friend officiating the nuptials. It was clear that everyone in the room was filled with joy as Kennedy and Logan exchanged vows, promising to love and support each other for a lifetime. They sealed their vows with a kiss and walked back down the aisle, hand in hand, as husband and wife. We took a few family portraits before heading outside just in time to catch the golden hour light.
Golden hour is always magical, and it did not disappoint during Kennedy and Logan’s portraits. The light was soft and glowy, bathing the couple in a warm hue. Kennedy and Logan were so easy to photograph, their love for each other evident in the way they looked at one another. We moved around the property, hitting a few key spots at Capital Bluffs, creating beautiful images of the newlyweds enjoying their first moments together as husband and wife!
As the evening unfolded, the reception area filled with excitement as more guests arrived to celebrate the newlyweds! The moment Kennedy and Logan were announced into the room, everyone stood to their feet, cheering and clapping for the new Mr. and Mrs. Roark! They went straight to the cake table, where they shared the traditional first cake-cutting moment before offering heartfelt toasts to their loved ones. After dinner, the dance floor opened up, and the celebration continued late into the evening. There was so much joy in the air, and it was clear that everyone was having an amazing time!
To close out the evening, Kennedy and Logan made a grand exit through a sea of bubbles. As they dashed through the shimmering bubbles, their smiles said it all, pure happiness and love! It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Kennedy and Logan, thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a meaningful day in your lives! From the intimate moments to the joy-filled celebrations, it was an honor to capture the memories of your wedding day. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and love!
