Morgan and Alex are such a sweet pair! From the moment I chatted with them, I knew their wedding day would be a fun one! They are both easy going and so kind to anyone they encounter. When we arrived for their wedding day, we were keeping a close eye on the weather. It was pretty dreary out but we were hopeful the rain would subside in time for portraits. Morgan and Alex hired a team to decorate their venue and it looked amazing! The space was decked out in florals and candles creating a romantic ambiance for the the special day.
Morgan and her gals were preparing for the day at Midtown Salon while we photographed reception details and bridal details. Alex got ready with the help of his best man and dad at Capital Bluffs. His mom joined in at the end and added his boutonnière. Once Morgan and the bridesmaids arrived at the venue, she got ready with the help of her mom! Morgan’s mom was so emotional as she helped her daughter slip into the gorgeous gown. Morgan shared a first look with her dad and he looked so ecstatic as he witnessed his daughter as a beautiful bride. Next, she did a reveal with her bridesmaids! They all cheered excitement as they saw Morgan as a bride!
We ventured over to the capital where we documented bridesmaids and groomsmen photos without Morgan and Alex running into one another. We luckily avoided the rain for the most part during this portion of the day. It did drizzle a bit here and there, but didn’t really affect portrait time. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t the case for later in the day.
Back across the river, guests began arriving for the ceremony! Morgan and Alex were married at Capital Bluffs with their closest family and friends in attendance! Within half an hour, the happy couple were pronounced husband and wife, and dashed back up the aisle as Mr. & Mrs. Schroeder! We took on all the family formals before heading back over to the capital for bridal party portraits and bride and groom portraits. This time, the rain didn’t hold off, and threatened to ruin portrait time. The Missouri capitol grounds were chaos, as other high schoolers were out and about trying to take homecoming photos.
Since it was raining, everyone was trying to get access to the covered areas for photos. Our locations were much more limited at this time of the day due to the weather. Morgan and Alex took the weather in stride and rolled with the punches! They were just so excited to finally be married and spending time with each other. Luckily, Morgan noticed a small area on the capital stairs that wasn’t being hit by the rain! Thank goodness she noticed this area, because it became the highlight of their bride and groom portraits and really offered a nice backdrop to use while it was raining. Morgan and Alex managed to stay dry and we were able to document some lovely bride and groom portraits.
We headed back to Capital Bluffs where guests were ready to get the evening kicked off. Morgan and Alex, along with their bridal party were announced into the reception! They surprised family and friends as they tossed out t-shirts for their grand entrance! The newlyweds cut their cake, enjoyed their toasts delivered by the maid of honor and best man, and indulged in a fantastic dinner. After dinner, Morgan and Alex mingled with their guests before we stole outside for a few more portraits during one of the breaks in the rain. Morgan and Alex golf today so they wanted to hit some golf balls together for the first time as husband and wife! We were able to enjoy about ten minutes of portrait time before it began to rain once again.
Back inside, Morgan and Alex shared their first dance as husband and wife and then shared their dances with their parents! It was now time to officially get the party started! And what wild night it was! Morgan and Alex really know how to have a good time! They kept the dance floor packed and their guests entertained all night long!
Morgan and Alex, thank you so much for choosing me and my team to document day one of your forever! We truly enjoyed getting to know you both as a couple and wish you the absolute best as you begin your happily ever after!
