Our last wedding of the year has come to a close! I couldn’t think of a more perfect couple to finish off the 2021 wedding season with. Emily and Logan are truly the sweetest pair! Working alongside them for their winter wedding day at The Millbottom in Jefferson City was a dream. Being that it’s December, temperatures were quite chilly last Friday as these two said “I Do.” It was rainy and very windy throughout the day, but that didn’t hinder us from documenting gorgeous portraits of the happy couple.
When we arrived, Emily was preparing for the day in the gorgeous industrial style loft attached to the Millbottom. The getting ready space is gorgeous and made for the perfect backdrop for Emily to get ready for the day. Once hair and makeup was complete, it was time for Emily to slip into her wedding gown. With the help of her mom, Emily was fastened into the stunning gown in no time at all. Emily opened a gift from her sweet groom, revealing dainty earrings. They would be the perfect touch of sparkle added to the bridal look. Emily’s mom and maid of honor helped push the cathedral length veil in place. Emily looked immaculate standing there as a beautiful bride. Emily shared a quick reveal with her bridesmaids before her dad was ushered in for a first look.
It was important to Emily to share a first look with the first man she ever loved. As Emily tapped father on the shoulder, he turned around stunned at the sight of his daughter as a bride. They embraced for the longest time as tears began to flow. It was such a sweet and intimate moment to witness on the wedding day. Perhaps one of my favorites of the day! Before heading downtown for a first look with her groom, Emily gifted both of her parents with thoughtful gifts that had everyone tearing up. It’s evident Emily shares the sweetest bond with her parents.
It was finally time for the first look with Emily and Logan! It was a little misty outside and quite windy, so we decided to do the first look under a covered area at the capitol. This would still provide us with gorgeous natural light and elegant backgrounds. We told Logan where to stand and he nervously swayed back and forth as he waited for Emily to arrive. Once Emily made it up all of the stairs in front of the capitol, her train was fluffed out and her cathedral length veil was perfectly placed. She took a second to take the moment in before she began to glide toward her groom. Emily gently tapped Logan on the shoulder and he turned around looking so happy to see his bride. They hugged and complimented each other on how great they both looked.
We slid right into bride and groom portraits, and let me tell you, these two knocked it out of the park! It was very cold, but Emily and Logan took the day in stride because they knew the portraits would be worth it. You cannot tell that these two were shivering or that their hair was blowing all over the place. We just kept our patience and made sure to document portraits very quickly any time we received a break from the harsh wind. Emily and Logan are a darling couple and their love was easy to photograph. These two had some of the sweetest romantic portraits of the year! We truly couldn’t get enough of these two. Temperatures seemed to be dropping and the wind was picking up. We met up with their bridal party on the opposite side of the capital for a few portraits before heading to church.
Emily and Logan shared in a traditional Lutheran ceremony. Logan looked so excited as his bride was being escorted down the aisle by her parents. Once they were at the alter, we were told by the pastor to not photograph any of the ceremony besides the grand moments like the vows, rings and kiss. This was the first time in my career that I’ve actually just been able to be fully present at a wedding ceremony and watch just as the guests do. We were still able to document the important moments! After the ceremony, we took family portraits at the church and then headed back downtown for a few more bride and groom portraits.
It was time to celebrate the new Mr. & Mrs. Schulte! The Dj announced the wedding party in and then had all the guests rise to their feet to give a warm welcome to the happy couple. Emily and Logan dashed through their guests and made their way to the wedding cake. They cut the cake and then the mingling began. The evening was full of Christmas tunes, sentimental toasts, and lots of dancing. Emily and Logan are so much fun to work with! These two were smiling all evening long and made my job a breeze. We ended our time with them outside on the street with the capitol in the background. The bridal party and immediate family gathered and waved glow sticks around as Emily and Logan ran through, looking happy as ever! It was the perfect way to end our last wedding of the season.
Emily and Logan, we can’t say enough great things about the two of you! We have loved documenting this sweet season for you both. Your family’s were so kind and welcoming to us all day and we truly appreciated their hospitality. You two are very lucky and loved by so many people. We wish you both the absolute best as you begin this new journey as husband and wife. We know great things are in store for the two of you! Thank you again for allowing us to be part of such a special day. We wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate our last wedding of the year with anyone else. Cheers to you both!
