With the 2021 wedding season quickly approaching, we are looking to expand our team and find the perfect addition to represent the Morgan Lee Photography brand. Morgan Lee Photography is looking to hire 1-2 qualified second shooters for the 2021 wedding season! Being a second shooter on wedding days is a great opportunity to expand and grow as a photographer. Shooting alongside an experienced primary photographer allows you to gain invaluable hands-on experience without having all the stress and pressure on your back. It’s a great way to break into the wedding photography industry. As a second shooter, you will get to observe wedding days from a behind the scenes perspective, build your wedding photography portfolio, and watch how I handle wedding day situations, all while meeting and serving wonderful couples! While I wish I could offer this opportunity to everyone, I only take on 1 or 2 qualified shooters each year. It is imperative for me to not only find second shooters who are going to deliver quality images, but also treat and serve my clients well. It’s important to note that second shooters will be hired to join our team as an independent contractor and will be compensated an hourly rate per wedding day.
Second shooting was such a key factor for me personally in gaining experience and also helping me get my “foot-in-the-door.” After falling in love with weddings while second shooting for a few seasons, I decided to take a leap of faith and began booking my own weddings in 2016. I can attest that the hands-on learning and the one-on-one coaching I received while second shooting was absolutely priceless and so valuable!
I am looking to bring on 1 or 2 additional shooters for the 2021 wedding season and beyond. 2021 wedding dates will be divided between each of the second shooters. This position is paid an hourly rate per wedding day. You are not compensated for your travel time to and from the wedding. Below, I have listed the required responsibilities of my second shooters:
Responsibilities
- Shoot 7-12 hours on wedding days
- Carry bags, light stands, equipment, etc.
- Help with setting up and taking down light stands with umbrella and external flashes
- Shoot certain portions of the wedding day on your own (groom getting ready in particular)
- Gather family members for family formals and help position individual family members for the formal shots
- Maintain a positive attitude the entire wedding day (It’s not always easy to keep a smile on your face during stressful portions of the day- but this is a must!)
- Willingness to commit to 6-12 weddings with Morgan Lee Photography for the 2021 wedding season
- Must have access to reliable transportation to get yourself to and from wedding days (There are times when you can ride with me)
- Sufficient photography experience and portfolio (wedding experience preferred but not required)
Minimum Equipment Requirements
- Full Frame DSLR camera body with 2 card slot capabilities (Nikon or Canon preferred)
- Variety of professional lenses (prime lenses and 70- 200 2.8mm preferred)
- External Flashes (knowledge with setting up and using the flash is preferred)
- Your own compact flash cards and/or SD cards, etc.
- Back up camera batteries and flash batteries is a MUST!
