I met up with Paige and Lucas for a perfect evening engagement session full of love! These two were nervous when they arrived, but within a few minutes, they were compete naturals in front of the camera. I tell couples all the time, it’s really not that bad; you get to have fun with your significant other while I snap away at the sweet connection they share. Paige and Lucas did just that. Their giddiness was endearing to witness. These two really do share a special connection that is evident in every portrait. We spent our time in downtown Jefferson City full of beautiful scenery. It was a cloudy evening, but that didn’t stop these two from letting their love shine. I had so much fun with Paige and Lucas and loved how easy going they are. There session has me so excited for their wedding day next spring!
Before ending their session, we ventured to Paiges family farm. What a beautiful slice of heaven her family has! Her parents have a gorgeous home tucked away on the property with rolling hills and sweeping views of the country side. It’s breathtaking; especially as the sun begins to set. This was the perfect location to end the session as the family farm has been in Paige’s family for several generations, and Paige and Lucas are planning to lay down their roots there too. The two have plans to build their dream home on the land close to her parents home. As if the session wasn’t going great already, it was made even more perfect when their sweet pup Lila joined them for portraits. We absolutely adored her spunky and sweet personality.
How They Met
Lucas and Paige met while working their first part time jobs, a local grocery store, Gerbes, in 2014. Lucas was 17 and Paige was 16! Lucas likes to say that Paige found him attractive because of the amount of grocery carts he could push into the store at one time! Shortly after Lucas began working with Paige, he told his family there might be a girl he liked at work. He was so sure about Paige, he told his family about her before he even got her number. His family ended up realizing that they knew Paiges family from when they were younger and knew Paige was probably an okay girl to have hanging around! When Lucas finally got around to getting Paiges number, they instantly became good friends and found themselves talking all the time, and a relationship began to blossom.
For their first date, Lucas took Paige to meet his family before they were actually “dating”. Since his family already knew all about Paige, Lucas, being the family man he is, brought Paige to his house to meet his parents and sister. Paige was quite shy at the time, but had the best time and knew one day, when she wasn’t the “new girl”, she would definitely fit in with them. After meeting his family, Paige and Lucas went to Lucas’ grandma’s house and had to-go meals for dinner from a local parish’s Fall Supper. Paige got to meet his family, grandma, and one of his aunts and uncles on the very first date!!! To this day, Paige and Lucas still very much enjoy their local fall suppers and spending all the time with their families.
Paige knew Lucas was the one early on. She quickly realized they had similar goals in life (work hard, stay close to family, have a life raising a family on a farm and tending to a farm), Paige knew she had probably met the one God had intended for her! She didn’t even have to search for this perfect man, they just ended up working together and instantly hit it off. The way Lucas was raised, has made him the man he is today, and he has every attribute Paige always wanted in her husband!
How He Asked
The proposal happened on Friday, July 3rd. Paige has never been a big 4th of July person, but her family had a bunch of fireworks leftover from the previous year and some new ones, and said they should have a little party to shoot them off. Paige told Lucas and he was excited to have a party at her house. Paige and Lucas told a couple of their close friends to come by for pizza and fireworks. As the day got closer, Paige told more of their friends and their siblings to come by too. Lucas’ parents ended up coming too! It ended up being a beautiful evening but as they finished up dinner, it started to rain a little bit. When the rain stopped and they were all able to sit back outside and prepare for fireworks, Lucas popped the question! Paige was totally surprised, she knew he was the one, but she had no idea she was going to get proposed to that night! The proposal was everything Paige could have wanted or would have expected. They had both of their families and some friends there with them, and those are two of the most important things to both Paige and Lucas. They love to spend our time with them, so it was perfect that they were there for the proposal moment!
Congratulations Paige and Lucas! We cannot wait to see your wedding day come together and for you two to become husband and wife in your church with your closest family and friends in attendance! Enjoy some of our favorites from the engagement session.
