Capturing love stories through the lens of my camera is always a privilege, and I recently had the pleasure of documenting Regan and Sam’s engagement session in Loose Creek, Missouri. Taking place on Sam’s family farm, this romantic evening was filled with golden light, laughter, and the company of their adorable Golden Doodle, Truman. As the golden rays of sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a warm glow upon the farm, I knew this engagement session was going to be something truly special. The farm setting added an intimate touch to the occasion, where Sam had originally popped the question to Regan! Surrounded by the natural beauty of the farm, their love story unfolded against a backdrop that held sentimental value.
What made this session even more delightful was the presence of Truman, Regan and Sam’s Golden Doodle! Truman’s wagging tail and affectionate nature added an extra dose of charm to the photographs. He effortlessly posed for the camera, showcasing his good-boy manners and stealing the show for their engagement session. Truman’s presence highlighted the love and joy that Regan and Sam share not only with each other but also with their beloved furry friend.
Eager to capture more magical moments, we decided to explore the surrounding countryside. The soft, golden light continued to illuminate our path as we meandered down a county road, with Regan and Sam hand in hand. Their laughter filled the air, and their connection was adorable as ever. Each giggle and smile shared between them exuded an aura of pure happiness and a genuine bond that is the foundation of their love story!
Throughout the session, Regan’s mother was an invaluable presence. She not only offered her unwavering support but also helped behind the scenes, ensuring that everything was picture-perfect! Her assistance with Regan’s hair and her infectious enthusiasm added an extra layer of joy to the day. She helped occupy Truman and got his attention any time he was posing for the portraits.
Regan and Sam’s engagement session was truly an absolute joy to photograph! From the sentimental backdrop of the family farm to the heartwarming presence of Truman, their Golden Doodle, every element of this session added to the perfect evening!
How They Met
Regan and Sam met through good old fashioned snapchat. Sam made the first move and added Regan as a friend. They quickly learned that they had a lot of mutual friends! Regan and Sam struck up a conversation and they really haven’t stopped talking since!
It wasn’t long before the two would share a first date. Regan and Sam went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and had their favorite rolls with honey butter. Then they went “gravel-roading” and just drove around the back county roads in Loose Creek. They ended up talking for hours and neither of them had realized just how late it had gotten. Time truly flew by. Regan just always knew Sam was her person. After several weeks of dating, she knew it was the real deal. They both wanted the same things in life and have a lot of the same values. Regan loved how they were very comfortable with each other right from the get-go. It’s just always felt natural and effortless.
Regan and Sam are quite the compatible pair! Their days are filled with watching HGTV and drinking coffee on the couch, with Truman, of course. Sam did not like coffee before dating Regan, and had never watched HGTV, and now it’s his favorite thing! Regan and Sam enjoy staying at home and relaxing while cooking home cooked meals and baked goods. They now stay busy with the purchase of their new home that they are renovating.
How He Asked
The proposal was a total surprise for Regan! They had gone to Disney World the week before, and she was certain that if he was going to propose soon, it would be when they were in Florida. The trip came and went, and still no ring, so Regan thought to herself that it would happen this Fall after they get settled into their new house, which was the timeline Sam said he wanted to follow. He didn’t want too many projects at once!
But he surprised Regan a week after they had been home from Florida, so she never suspected it! It was a Sunday afternoon and Sam wanted to go on a Can-am ride, which they do frequently, so it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. They were driving around his family’s farm at their favorite spot where eventually Regan and Sam would love to build a house in the future. Sam had hidden a box in a tree, and he pointed it out to Regan. She proceeded over to the tree to get the box and there was a note inside. After Regan read the note, she turned around and Sam got down on one knee! Regan isn’t usually a cryer, but she instantly started bawling the happiest of tears. She was so surprised!
