Their Session
One week ago, we were headed to Panama City Beach, Florida to photograph a wedding! We stopped in St. Louis to meet the cutest pair for their engagement session! Kelly and Daniel were amazing to work with! Kelly had everything perfectly planned from the locations she chose to their perfect outfits! We could quickly tell they were naturals in front of the camera. They never once seemed nervous or stiff! Kelly and Daniel just had fun with the session and did anything we asked them to do! Kelly has the best laugh, and she was always cracking up at whatever Daniel was whispering in her ear.
The temperatures were a bit hot for the middle of September, but the golden light was perfect! This was actually our second attempt to meet Kelly and Daniel. Our first session was cancelled due to rain. This session was nothing short of amazing! We strolled around Lafayette Square Garden and the adorable duo interacted as if we weren’t even there snapping portraits of them. The garden area and whimsical bridge looks like it is straight out of a fairytale. Pair that with magical light and a beautiful couple, and you have gold! As the sun began to dip in the sky, we headed to our second location just across the river. It was the perfect view of the arch and downtown St. Louis. And let me tell you, the light was amazing here! We walked up the ramps and we were met with the most beautiful sunset and pastel sky. Kelly and Daniel are avid Cardinal fans so they posed in their redbirds attire with the arch in the background. It doesn’t get more perfect than this! Their friend even brought their adorable pup Leia to the session. She also sported a cardinals bandana. They are such an adorable family of three!
How He Asked
Kelly and Daniel first met at Via Vino wine bar in Frontenac. She was there meeting her girlfriends and Dan was there drinking a bottle of wine. The two quickly started chatting at the bar as Kelly was waiting for her girlfriends to arrive. Kelly must have won Dan over right away because on one of their first memorable dates, Dan took Kelly to a nice dinner at Edgewood Winery in Chesterfield where she became extremely sick within minutes of arriving. Dan wasn’t even phased by Kelly’s violent onset illness. He still decided to take her out again! For their first cute date that she wasn’t incredibly ill at, they ate at a ramen place in Maplewood. She remembers trying so many new foods! Kelly loved how adventurous dan was and how effortlessly he made her get out of her comfort zone to try new things.
Nine months into their relationship, Dan took Kelly to Europe where they visited Switzerland, Austria, and Germany for Oktoberfest. After traveling together, Kelly just knew Dan was the one for her! It was an amazing trip filled with great food, site seeing and love! After spending two years together, Dan decided it was time to propose to Kelly! Dan and Kelly were skiing in Winter Park Colorado. Once they got off the chairlift at the top of the mountain, Dan said something was wrong with his bindings. He unclipped, and preceded to get down on one knee with a beautiful ring to ask for Kelly’s hand in marriage and the rest is history!
Kelly and Dan, it was great officially meeting you two! The love you both share for one another is so enduring and we just love being able to capture it!
