One week ago, we gathered with Cortney and Corey and their family and friends as they united in marriage at St. Joseph Cathedral in Jefferson City, Missouri. The hot July summer wedding day was sweet as can be from start to finish! We began our day at Cortney and Corey’s house where all the girls were getting ready for the day. Wedding day tunes echoed throughout the speaker system in their home and every now and then, you’d hear several of the bridesmaids belting out lyrics from Beyonce songs. The upbeat energy felt in the home was infectious and kept us smiling from the moment we arrived. We were immediately welcomed in like family and we knew the day would be a special one.
The morning passed along smoothly! Before getting Cortney in her wedding gown, we gathered all the girls outside for a champagne toast and popping of confetti. It took a bit for the girls to figure out how to make the confetti poppers to go off, but as soon as the first one burst, cheerful smiles and giggling ensued. It was a moment of pure joy and candid memories! Next, it was time for Cortney’s mom to help her into the wedding gown. Within no time at all, Cortney was fastened into her dress and added touches of jewelry. To finish off her bridal look, her mom grabbed the long cathedral length veil and pushed it into place. As soon as Cortney’s mom looked at her as a bride, her eyes filled with tears and the two embraced with the sweetest hug.
We brought all the bridesmaids in the room and had them face away from Cortney. As we counted to three, they all simultaneously turned around to see Cortney as a bride. The room once again filled with exciting cheering and gasps of awe. The girls all gathered around Cortney and hugged her telling her how perfect and beautiful she looked as a bride. Cortney looked absolutely stunning and you could tell she was beaming with joy and happiness! Before leaving for downtown, Cortney wanted to share a first look with two special ladies in her life. We set her two grandmothers up outside and told them no peeking. Cortney glided down the deck stair case and walked over to them and told them to open their eyes. As soon as each grandmother opened their eyes, they were both overwhelmed with joy! It was probably one of our favorite moments to document during the day.
We ventured downtown for bridesmaid and groomsmen portraits just before the ceremony! It was hot but everyone was so patient and enjoyed the moment. It was finally almost ceremony time, but just before making it down the aisle, Cortney wanted to share a special first look with her dad. It was sweet as can be witnessing him as he turned around to see his daughter as a bride. Now she was ready to see Corey! The moment Cortney and Corey had been anticipating for months was about to happen. Everyone rose to their feet as the music heightened and Cortney was escorted down the aisle by her father. We turned and looked at Corey and saw his eyes filling up with tears as he glanced down the end of the aisle and saw Cortney for the first time. Cortney was all smiles as she walked toward the alter. As she made it to the front of church, she mouthed, “I love you!” to Corey just before her dad hugged her to hand her off.
Cortney and Corey shared in a traditional Catholic ceremony with their closest family and friends in attendance. After exchanging vows and rings, the priest pronounced them husband and wife and the darling pair shared a kiss. The new Mr. and Mrs. Holtmeyer happily made their way back up the aisle as their guests filled the church with cheer and applause. The remainder of the day was spent celebrating the new Mr. and Mrs. Guests gathered at the church hall for a reception. Dancing filled the evening! Everyone seemed to be having the best time. There is one thing for certain, Cortney and Corey are so blessed with amazing family and friends. So much love filled the church hall that night.
Cortney and Corey are quite literally the perfect pair! Their love is evident when you are around them. They are always smiling and you cannot contain their giddiness. Their love is sweet and enduring and it’s such a treat to witness! We enjoyed documenting day one of their marriage. We cannot wait to see where this new journey leads them. Cortney and Corey, thank you so much for trusting us to capture your wedding day memories! We had a blast celebrating you both. Enjoy some of our favorites from their very special day!
