Sarah + Ben | Klondike Park Engagement Session

We met with Sarah and Ben last week for a fun-filled evening at Klondike Park.  We’ve never been to the park before, so we decided to arrive a bit early to scout the location.  The drive to get here was quite curvy and to the middle of no where.  So we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to such a gorgeous location in the middle of Augusta, Missouri.  Beautiful light and  scenery made our photography hearts so happy.  Pair a gorgeous backdrop with a giddy and very in love couple, and you have the perfect combination for a wonderful engagement session.  Sarah and Ben stepped out of their car dressed to impressed.  We knew these two were going to blow us away from the start.  You couldn’t keep the smiles off their faces.  Laughter and giggles filled a lot of the evening and you cannot help but smile when you are in the presence of Sarah and Ben.  Their love is evident and  you see their connection in every single photograph we snapped.

We noticed right away just how adorable these two are with one another!  Ben is quite the gentleman; always offering his arm to escort his beautiful future bride around the park.  They would talk and laugh with each other as we ventured between spots at the park and it’s as if they were lost in their own little world.  These two are sweet as can be and the love the share is a beautiful thing to witness.  We had so much fun exploring the new park with Sarah and Ben.  No matter where we stopped for portraits, these two were happy and smiling all evening long.  We were pleasantly surprised when Sarah asked if they could actually get into the water with their nice outfits on.  We were here for it and loved their willingness to do anything for the shot!  Their energy is contagious and we cannot wait to be back with this darling pair again for their wedding in May.  We know if their special day is anything like the engagement session, it will be nothing short of amazing!

Their Love Story

Sarah and Ben met at Ben’s brothers house, a “mutual” location for them to officially meet, since they actually met on a dating app. For their first date, the two decided to go to Katie’s Pizzeria, for a pizza and some cold brews to watch the Blues. This was January of 2016 and it was COLD.  Their original plan was to go ice skating, but the weather had other ideas for them.  Sarah and Ben were both very nervous but excited!  They began officially dating in February of 2016.

Sarah was immediately attracted to Ben’s handsomely good looks but loved how Ben was such a gentleman from the very beginning.  He opened her doors, gave her an arm to walk alongside with and always put Sarah first.  Sarah recalls always thinking that she wanted Ben to be the one, but wasn’t totally certain until she fell in love with him.  Five months in, they exchanged “I love you” and from there on out, Sarah knew she would spend her life with him. Ben also was attracted to Sarah right off the bat. But with each experience, the feelings slowly came more and more. Sarah enjoyed a lot of the parts about him that Ben liked, but she also saw his flaws and loved him anyways. Ben doesn’t have a specific moment in time that he knew Sarah was the one; he just knew that it felt more right every time they were together.  He loved how she passed the family test within a month of dating. And that was big for him!

Fast forward several years later and Ben knew it was time to propose to Sarah.  On the backup plan, when things went horribly wrong: They went on a hike that included overgrown weeds the entire way, gnats, bees, spider webs, ticks, burs, forging a river with Sarah on Ben’s back, sad tears, happy tears, a slip and slide rock waterfall, oh yeah, and an elk.  Sarah and Ben are very outdoorsy people, but to keep the story short- this was the worst hike they had EVER been on. And Ben decided to propose in the midst of all this, which was really a testament to their relationship. Together, they passed the test. Sarah said yes, they hugged, kissed and got the heck off that trail!  One thing is for certain, things don’t always go as planned in relationships. The love Sarah and Ben share for one another is undeniable! It shows how even in some of the most imperfect circumstances, perfect moments can still unfold beautifully.  It’s all in how you decide to view things from your perspective.

Sarah and Ben are absolutely adorable and we are over the moon in excitement to be sharing a sweet peek into their session from last week!  We had such a difficult time narrowing down the images to post because EVERY single one is perfection!  Enjoy some of our favorites from their summer engagement session at Klondike Park.
