Some sessions are extra special because they bring you full circle, and this was definitely one of those! I recently had the opportunity to reconnect with Kevin and his wife, Danielle after running into them at my sister’s wedding back in May!! Kevin and I actually go way back, we first met when he was a freshman in high school and I was a senior. Life has certainly taken us in different directions over the years, so it was such a fun to catch up with him and Danielle again after all this time!
There was so much to celebrate during this session for the Douglas family! Kevin and Danielle recently celebrated seven years of marriage and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their third baby, who is due in mid August! On top of that, both of their little ones have just celebrated birthdays, Evelyn recently turned five, and Bennett turned three, making this the perfect time to document such a meaningful season in their lives!
We met at the Missouri State Capitol on one of those picture perfect summer evenings! The golden sunlight poured across the Capitol lawn, creating the dreamiest backdrop for their family portraits. It truly couldn’t have been a more beautiful night. One very special guest also joined us for the session, their adorable five month old puppy, Rosie! She was an absolute sweetheart and definitely stole the spotlight a few times throughout the evening! She fit right into the family and made everyone laugh with her playful personality.
One of my favorite things about photographing the Douglas family was how naturally they interacted with one another! There was so much laughter, so many genuine smiles, and countless candid moments that perfectly captured this adorable season of life. Kevin and Danielle have done an incredible job raising Evelyn and Bennett! They are two of the sweetest, most well mannered children I’ve had the pleasure of photographing in a long time! They were kind, full of personality, and made the entire session such a joy!
As the evening came to a close, we wandered over to the Missouri Governor’s Garden to finish the session surrounded by beautiful blooms. It was the perfect ending to such a memorable evening together!
Kevin and Danielle, thank you so much for trusting me to capture these memories for your sweet family!! It was such a joy catching up with you both after all these years, and I can’t wait to watch your beautiful family continue to grow. Congratulations on baby number three, I know your newest little one is already so loved!
