Ellen + Andrew | Engaged
I had the joy of meeting Ellen and Andrew at her family’s farm in Wardsville for their engagement session, and it could not have been a more perfect setting. The property is expansive and full of character, offering endless gorgeous backdrops for portraits! From the very first click of the camera, their sweet, giddy energy was undeniable, the kind of laughter and joy that carried through the entire evening, even in the sweltering summer heat. We wandered to peaceful ponds, along creek beds, and through golden fields, eventually making our way to the hilltop where they plan to build their future home. Photographing them on the very land where they’ll plant their roots made this session all the more meaningful!
How They Met
When I first met Ellen and Andrew, I knew right away that their love story was something special! It has a little bit of fate, a little bit of fun, and a whole lot of heart.
Their paths first crossed when Andrew was in Jefferson City for a work conference, having traveled in from St. Louis. Somehow, in the middle of all that, the two matched online, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! Both believe it was fate that brought them together.
Their very first date was in April of 2023, in Columbia, Missouri. They went bowling, and though they admitted to being a little nervous at first, excitement quickly took over. They talked the entire time and felt comfortable together almost instantly, something that doesn’t always happen on a first date. From there, the connection only deepened. By May of 2023, they were already celebrating their dating anniversary!
When I asked them how they knew the other was “the one,” their answers made me smile! For them, it wasn’t just about big moments, but the simple ones, too. They realized they could do anything together, whether adventurous or ordinary, and it was always better when they were side by side! That kind of companionship is what lasting love is built on!
How He Asked
Fast forward to June 2025 and Andrew had a plan in motion! The two were in Branson, Missouri, for a concert and a weekend away with Ellen’s family! On the first night, Andrew quietly found Ellen’s parents and told them he had picked up the ring! The next evening, the family gathered for dinner overlooking Table Rock Lake. Andrew asked Ellen to step outside on the deck for a photo with the stunning view. After the picture, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever! Ellen said “yes!” and the whole family celebrated with champagne. A proposal surrounded by loved ones and a view of the lake, it was the perfect reflection of what matters most to these two: love and family!
When they aren’t planning their wedding, Ellen and Andrew love doing life together! Whether it’s fishing, golfing, pickleball, or really anything competitive, they’re happiest side by side. They take walks with their sweet dog, Claire, watch sports, movies, and tv shows, and spend plenty of time with family and friends!
The way they admire one another says so much about who they are together. Andrew describes Ellen as kind, passionate, and goofy, and he especially loves her drive and caring nature. Ellen calls Andrew thoughtful, hardworking, and loving, and what she admires most is his kindness and how he is always there for her, no matter what!
As they look ahead to their wedding day, they can’t wait to celebrate their love with the people who matter most to them. And beyond that day, they’re excited for all that comes next, building a home, starting a family, and creating a lifetime of adventures together!
Ellen and Andrew, your story is one of fate, fun, and deep love! I feel so honored to get to capture this season of your lives, and I can’t wait to celebrate alongside you as you step into your forever!
