Emery + Cody | Fulton, Missouri Engagement Session

When we first met with Emery and Cody in the spring, we knew our time with them would be nothing short of amazing.  Both have such warm and inviting personalities which make you feel like old friends.  They would both light up when talking about wedding plans.  Every time they would glance in each other’s direction, they would smile in excitement as they spoke about the wedding day they envision.  We knew immediately that Emery and Cody are the real deal!  They are a couple madly in love in it’s the sweetest to see.

We knew their Engagement session would be amazing!  Emery picked such pretty locations, one of them being very close to their hearts.  We ended the session at golden hour on a beautiful family farm that Cody works on.  There is just something to be said about simple locations. Open fields, pretty fall trees in every direction, and an adorable couple completed the perfect scenery. Emery and Cody were an absolute dream to work with!  These two are a dynamite pair and their love radiates from every ounce of their being.  They share a love so special and so true; we just love when we get such joy-filled couples in front of our cameras.  Capturing a connection two individuals share is effortless when you have couples like Emery and Cody who just look at one another and you can see the passion in their eyes.  Cody is such a gentleman; it was adorable watching him with Emery during the session.  These two are going to do great things in life, we just know it!

Their Love Story

“Cody and I first met in college, but at the time neither of us were interested in the other. About three years later I began to take notice of this super cute guy who was volunteering in Africa. The super cute guy also happened to be my sorority sister’s brother and the guy I had met three years back. I mentioned to her that I thought what he was doing in Africa was so inspiring and amazing…. and I might have slipped in that he was pretty easy on the eyes too 🙂 She decided to take charge and a month or so later he began to message me. We talked for a month or so while he finished his work in Ghana. When he got back we decide to go on a date and our love has been growing ever since!! Our first “official” date was to BBQ at Buckinghams Smokehouse in Columbia. I wore a blue and green floral dress and he wore a blue and red stripped button up. As I sat waiting for him to arrive in my tiny little college apartment I didn’t feel nervous. I never really felt nervous with him. From day one being together has felt natural, easy, and comfortable. He picked me up and was the perfect gentleman. We spent the evening eating amazing food and talking the entire evening away. It was perfect!”

How He Asked

“I had been waiting and hoping for a ring for a while. I was really anticipating it to happen the weekend before, Easter. When that didn’t happen I was pretty upset and was asking everyone I knew if they had any idea when it was supposed to happen, of course no one would tell me anything. We had what I though were family pictures scheduled. We drove to Chapel Hill for the photos. When we arrived I was very confused because there was not a single car there and we were late so there should have been cars there. He told me to get out of the car and what I opened my door to was a dream. The side walk was lined with rose petals and photos of us, there was music playing, and a photographer. I cried the entire time walking down the side walk and couldn’t take it all in. He finally turned to me and began to speak, and in a nervous moment I got so scared he wasn’t going to get down on one knee so I told him too!! It is now a joke that I am such a control freak that I even reminded him how to propose 🙂 The best part of the whole day was that our friends and family were waiting in the background to congratulate us and join us for an amazing dinner. It was so important to me to have all of them there for that moment and it meant the world to me that he brought everyone together for the day.”

Congratulations Emery and Cody!  We cannot wait to capture your wedding day memories in June!  You two have been an absolute delight to work with!  Enjoy a sweet peek into their romantic engagement session!  We are certain you’ll love these sweet images as much as we do!
