Jefferson City, Missouri is home to a number of beautiful locations that make for the perfect proposal spot. When Jackson contacted me, he knew he wanted the Capitol to be the location for his proposal. With its grand architecture and sprawling lawns, the Capitol building provided a picturesque backdrop for his proposal! Jackson wanted the moment to be special and memorable. He had been carefully planning and considering all the details to make sure everything was just right for the special moment. Jackson had Grace’s friends plan a “girls night” to ensure grace would be dressed up. As her friends drove to Jefferson City, one of the girls kept Jackson updated with their whereabouts and time of arrival. Jackson paced the area, examined the ring a few times, made sure his speaker was working. About 15 minutes before Grace would arrive, Jackson walked off to pray over the big moment that was about to take place.
Once we knew Grace and her friends were close by, Jackson scattered rose petals to line the walkway leading up to the Capitol building. He had also set up a speaker to play “Can’t Help Falling in Love” as soon as Grace arrived. The romantic gesture immediately set the mood for the proposal and left Grace feeling swept off her feet! As Grace walked down the rose petal lined pathway towards the Capitol, Jackson stood waiting for her with the biggest smile on his face. He reached out and held Grace’s hands and the two stood looking eye to eye.
Everything was perfectly timed out and went off without a hitch. Just as the song was coming to an end, Jackson got down on one knee and asked Grace to marry him. She excitedly professed, “ABSOLUTELY!!” Throughout Jackson’s speech, Grace was brought to tears. She had the biggest smile on her face and could’t take her eyes off of Jackson. Jackson slipped the gorgeous Brilliant Earth engagement ring onto her finger, and the couple kissed and embraced in a loving hug! It was such a romantic evening and had me in tears as I witnessed the moment unfold.
Grace’s friends surprised her with a car full of outfits for her to choose from in the event she wanted a different look for the portraits that would follow the proposal. Grace and her friends all gathered around the trunk of the vehicle and decided on which dress to slip into. Grace ultimately chose a pretty white dress! It complemented Jackson’s dapper suit perfectly. They even packed her makeup bag for touch ups, because they knew she would be crying during the special moment. The newly engaged pair then took a stroll around the grounds of the Capitol building, hand in hand, taking in the beauty of the surroundings and basking in the glow of their engagement, while we photographed them.
I had so much fun documenting these two! Their love is evident in each portrait. I loved their personalities around each other. They can’t keep their eyes off one another and they are always laughing. We could’t be any more excited for Grace and Jackson as they embark on this new season of being engaged and planning for their marriage!
