I met up with Kenadi and Kaden in downtown Jefferson City, Missouri for their engagement session, and they brought along their adorable pup, Marley! For an October evening, the weather was surprisingly warm, but these two handled it like pros. They showed up dressed to impress and immediately felt comfortable in front of the camera. We started with elegant portraits around the Capitol grounds, capturing the classic beauty of the area. After a quick outfit change, we explored more downtown spots, though a homecoming parade threw a few curveballs our way! With road closures and parade traffic shifting our original plans, Kenadi and Kaden rolled with it all effortlessly. We still found so many fun locations to shoot, and the night ended perfectly at The Millbottom, where they’ll be tying the knot! It was such a fun, easygoing evening with these two, and I can’t wait to capture their big day!
There’s something so special about photographing a couple who just fits! When two people so clearly bring out the best in each other, and their love feels effortless, steady, and full of joy, that’s exactly how it felt photographing Kenadi and Kaden during their engagement session in downtown Jefferson City, Missouri! Their story is one that starts quietly, with a simple hello at a social gathering, and turns into a forever kind of love (with a little help from Instagram, of course).
Kenadi shared with me how they officially met, and it’s honestly the sweetest “what if?” turned into “meant to be.” They exchanged a quick greeting at a get together, nothing more than a friendly “Hey, nice to meet you.” That could have easily been the end of it. But later, Kenadi was scrolling Instagram and saw Kaden in her suggested friends. She hit follow, and eventually, after what she joked was “a minute,” he followed back. That small click led to DMs, which led to real conversations, and before long, they both realized they had a lot in common. Without that social media moment, they might have stayed strangers who shared a quick hello. Instead, it became the beginning of everything!
Their first date was at Bek’s, a cozy spot in Kaden’s hometown of Fulton. They shared delicious food (and their now go to appetizer, spinach artichoke dip with toasted pita bread!) and fell into conversation so easily that it felt like they had known each other forever! Kenadi described it as “natural,” and that word fits them perfectly!
Their love has always been built on the little things. Kenadi said there wasn’t one big moment when she knew Kaden was the one, it was the way he consistently supported her dreams, brought calm in overwhelming times, made her laugh, and helped her see the light in hard situations. “He isn’t just someone I love,” she said. “He’s my best friend.”
On May 5, 2025, during a family vacation to Hilton Head Island, Kaden proposed in the most heartfelt and perfectly spontaneous way. They had flown in with his Nana Barbara, and Kaden had secretly given the ring to his mom so Kenadi wouldn’t find it in his bag (smart move!). While he told his entire family about the proposal ahead of time, even Kaden wasn’t sure exactly when he’d pop the question!
That day started with a walk to a nearby coffee shop. Later, when most of the family went inside for lunch, Kenadi stayed back to relax on the beach. Kaden checked in on her, and eventually came down to sit with her. As Kenadi started to get a little too much sun, she asked him to put some tanning lotion on her back, she swears she unknowingly “set him up for success,” and then it happened. Kaden began saying sweet, intentional words that caught her attention. When he asked her to turn around, she playfully resisted! But when she finally did, there he was, down on one knee!!
Speechless, Shocked, and Full of emotion!
And when he told her he had asked both of her parents for their blessing, tears filled her eyes! It was such a special moment shared just between the two of them, and then celebrated joyfully with Kaden’s family back at the beach house! One of those once in a lifetime, perfectly imperfect stories that they’ll tell for years to come!

And when it comes to their wedding day, Kenadi is most excited to celebrate the sacrament of marriage with the people who mean the most to them, both here and watching from above! She’s ready to dance the night away, create lasting memories, and begin building a life with the person who not only makes her laugh, but gives her a sense of peace and purpose.
