Lani + Pat | Jefferson City, Missouri Engagement Session

We spent our Memorial Day with a lovely pair for a sparkling engagement session!  Lani and Pat had us travel out to her dad’s farm and boy were we in for a surprise!  We were surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, open fields, and a large pristine lake.  This location is any photographers dream!!  Lani and Pat stepped out looking phenomenal for their engagement session.  Lani looked like a model with her gorgeous glistening gold gown from Rent the Runway, and her beautifully styled hair and makeup.  She had Pat looking rather dapper in his black suit and tie!  We knew as soon as they walked out of the house, the session was going to be amazing.  Our darling couple even rented a vintage velvet burgundy couch from Pretty Little Things to spice up the session.

These two were glowing around each other the entire time.  Lani and Pat were such troopers to endure the hot temperatures during the session.  The steamy weather didn’t deter us from capturing many romantic photos!  We just love how sweet these two are with one another.  Pat pulled out all the stops during their engagement session.  No matter what we asked him to do, Pat was up for anything!  He so effortlessly lifted Lani off the ground for several lovely moments!  We just couldn’t get enough of Lani and Pat!  From start to finish, they both did an amazing job.  We know it can be a bit nerve wracking to be in front of the cameral for a session.  You would have never guessed that they were nervous at first!  They were just so cute and cuddly the entire time!  We enjoyed their positive attitudes!

We knew after meeting them this spring, that their session would be one to remember.  Lani has impeccable style and taste and the way they gushed about each other had us smitten from the beginning!  Pat immediately began talking of the night they first met.  He claims that his charming ways enabled him to secure Lani’s phone number. After a few days of texting, Pat set up an official first date for the two to enjoy.  Lani told Pat she was a fashion major and that she was really into clothes.  So he made sure to put a little more effort into his outfit than normal. A few shirt changes later, and he was ready to go for the date. Upon arriving to pick Lani up, Pat says that the first thing she did after opening her door was look him up and down.  He believes she was judging his outfit choice.  Lani however has no recollection of this incident!  She remembers seeing him and giving him a big hug! Pat drove them  downtown to Addison’s for dinner. Following dinner, he treated them to ice cream at Sparky’s. They spent the rest of the evening walking around the columns on Mizzou campus.  Lani being more reserved, didn’t do much of the talking on the first date.  Pat recalls doing the majority of the talking the whole night.  He remembers thinking that he could not tell if she found him to be charming or annoying.  As it turned out, one date lead to the next and they made things official and began dating!  When they first began dating, Lani was a Cardinals fan and Pat was a Cub’s fan.  After little tiffs here and there about liking opposite teams, Pat finally believed he converted Lani to a Cub’s fan.  She began buying more Cub’s attire and decided to throw out all of her old Cardinal gear.  Pat knew this was his dream girl!  After dating and growing to love one another, and the same baseball team, Pat knew it was time to propose.

Pat planned a romantic rooftop proposal at the school he teaches at just few days shy of Valentine’s Day.  He enlisted the help of some of their artsy friends to create the perfect setup. They lined the third floor hallway with a bunch of candles, hung several pictures of the two of them from the ceiling with sweet notes on the back of each of them, and made a path to the closet where the ladder to the roof was. On top of the roof, they had more candles leading to a little lace covered pavilion with lights strung up above.  It was the perfect spot to ask his girl to marry him.  It was only 8 degrees outside and it began to ice.  Pat sent his  friend to pick Lani up.  At this point, Lani was extremely suspicious about what was really going on.  As soon as Pat’s friend pulled into the parking lot she could see lights strung up on the roof.  She knew something was up!  Pat texted her to come to the third floor. Confused, she followed his instructions and came up. She walked down the hallway, climbed the ladder to the roof, where Pat was waiting for her at the top. It was still freezing and the ice was still coming down. Pat walked Lani over to the hand crafted pavilion, said something sweet, got down on one knee and gave her a ring as fireworks were ignited from below.  This fairytale proposal is like one straight out of a movie.

We couldn’t be any more excited for Pat and Lani and we look forward to seeing what the future has in store for them! We are so looking forward to their NYE wedding!  Enjoy some of our favorites from their sparkling engagement session.
