We met up with Mackenzie and John in late September for the most perfect fall engagement session! Gorgeous golden light filtered through the fall foliage that is just beginning to peek out. Temperatures were perfect and love was in the air with these two! There is no denying that Kenzie and John have an undeniable connection. When you are in their presence, you cannot help but to smile because they are so smitten with one another. Kenzie and John came dressed to impress in their attire and really blew us away with their modeling skills. We enjoyed strolling around two of our favorite local parks as we got to know these love birds. Seeing how their engagement session photos turned out has us over the moon in excitement for their wedding day next year. You can find us counting down the days until we have Kenzie and John back in front of our cameras.
Their Love Story
It was 2013 and the summer before their senior year of high school and a random boy messaged Kenzie on Facebook telling her that he thought she was cute and he politely asked her to text him. At first, Kenzie was like “who is this boy?” and was totally not interested. John’s act of courage became one of his best decisions, because as fate would have it, they ended up talking. The two talked for about a month or so before they decided to finally hang out and the rest is history! When Kenzie and John decided to hang out for the first time, they went to her house. Kenzie actually had her best friend at the time come over because she didn’t want to hang out with John by herself.
Kenzie quickly realized she and John would always be together because she went to college 8 hours away and then 5 hours away. John would always make it a priority to come visit her and was always traveling with her parents to come to her college softball games! How many guys would do that? Kenzie’s games could be during some cold/rainy weather, but he would always be out there watching her.
Fast forward to 2019 and John would be putting together the most perfect proposal to ask for Kenzie’s hand in marriage.
How He Asked
John set up the proposal all by himself and it was so sweet! He asked Kenzie’s aunt to help him set up a photo session with a photographer. He had her aunt text Kenzie and say that she had won a free photo session, but didn’t want to do it and offered it to Kenzie and John. Kenzie actually almost didn’t do it because she didn’t feel like it. So John did some research on cool places to take pictures in downtown St.Louis and found the place he wanted to propose at. They went down to the arch and took some pictures and then we went across the river to a park. It was super cool because we went to the top of this walkway with the St. Louis arch and skyline in the background. When they made it to the top, John proposed! Kenzie loved how much thought he put into the whole thing. She kind of thought he might propose, but he didn’t do it until the very end so she was second guessing herself. Happiest day ever!
We cannot wait to photograph this darling pair again on their sweet wedding day as they say their I Do’s in front of all of their close family and friends. Enjoy some of our favorites from their session. It’s really beginning to look like fall and we LOVE it.
