Erin and Jake were blessed with such a gorgeous day for their wedding! From the moment I arrived, I knew the day was going to be perfect! Erin put so much thought and care into every little detail of the day. She was calm as ever as she prepared for the day in their home. The 1800s home is nestled in a charming neighborhood of Westphalia across from the Catholic Church, where they would soon be getting married.
Jake got ready just across the street, so it made things really easy for photographing. I loved how we could just walk between the homes where Erin and Jake were getting ready. I brought Jake and his best man outside for his getting ready portraits. About five minutes into those portraits, a few of the groomsmen were laughing when they finally said um, “we don’t know how to tell you this, but you’re covered in dog poop.” I immediately looked down, mortified at the sight of my poor rothy’s shoes. I didn’t just step in it; the entire top of my foot was quite literally covered in it. It was such a “great” start to my day. Anyone who knows me, knows this is right on brand for me, so I wouldn’t have expected anything different.
Aside from that minor mishap, the rest of the day went perfectly! Erin and Jake’s home offers the most brilliant natural light that pours through the old home windows. Her mom helped her into the stunning sweetheart gown. Once Erin was ready, she glided down the beautiful staircase of the home, where her bridesmaids were chanting, “Erin, Erin, Erin!” When it comes to bridesmaids reveals, I’ve seen a lot of them, and I don’t think I’ve heard this much cheering and excitement, ever. It was really sweet to see the bridesmaids share so much joy an excitement for Erin and the special day.
We were off to church just shortly before the 1pm ceremony. Erin shared a quick first look with her dad before returning to hiding. The Catholic Church in Westphalia is so stunning. It’s bright and extraordinary. As Erin glided down the aisle, escorted by her dad, Jake couldn’t fight back the emotion. He teared up as he watched the love of his life making her way to the alter. Erin and Jake shared in a traditional Catholic ceremony with a full mass. Within the hour, they were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Jake Plassmeyer. They sealed the deal with a kiss before dashing back up the aisle.
After family formals, we ventured to downtown Jefferson City where we spent the afternoon and early evening taking portraits of the bridal party and bride and groom. We couldn’t have asked for a better group. They were a very lively group and made our job so fun. After portraits, we made our way back to Westphalia to kick off the celebratory evening.
Erin & Jake were announced in and guests went wild as they dashed through the crowd of everyone in attendance. It was a packed house! The cake was cut and toasts were delivered before dinner was served. After dinner, we stole Erin and Jake outside for what would have been sunset photos. The clouds had just recently rolled in, so we just took the two out to a lovely field for a few last minute romantic portraits.
Erin and Jake are a very sweet pair! They are giddy and their happiness is contagious. I adored every second we had with them on their wedding day. The night continued with lots and lots of dancing and good times. Erin and Jake, thank you so much for allowing us to be part of this very special day. From beginning to end, your day was truly magical! You two are so blessed and supported by your family and friends. We have no doubt the two of you will accomplish amazing things together as husband and wife. Congratulations again Mr. & Mrs. Plassmeyer!
