We had a very fun evening full of laughter when we met Sarah and Shaun for their summer engagement session!! I think it’s safe to say that these two love birds are a match made in heaven. The chemistry they share is undeniable and the way Shaun looks at Sarah had us swooning the entire night! There was never a dull moment the entire session and that’s just how we like it. Despite the heat, these two stuck it out and never failed to light up the camera with their infectious personalities. Sarah and Shaun are so in love with one another, sometimes it felt like they didn’t even realize we were there capturing their portraits. They are just so natural with each other. Throughout the session, Sarah was laughing about 90% of the time! All Shaun had to do was whisper in her ear and she was belly laughing. It was the cutest thing to witness. We adore these two and we are over the moon excited to document their love story in April next year!
When we asked Sarah and Shaun about their relationship and how they met, we knew it would be nothing short of amazing and that was just the case! They first met for a lunch date at Flat Branch where Sarah was greeted at the door by Shaun. She immediately loved how chivalrous he was and thought he was just the cutest guy despite him being nervous. Together, they shared a delightful lunch with great conversation. They realized they had a lot in common, especially their love for board games. The date went so well that Sarah gave Shaun her number, and they promptly started their first game of Words with Friends. Today they are 90 games and counting!
Soon after their lunch date, they went on their official first date. They began with dinner and later strolled around downtown where they lost track of time. Sarah and Shaun both recall it being the best first date they had ever had. Since Sarah was fairly new to the area, Shaun drove her around Columbia showing her all the fun spots. Their spontaneous night took them to the theater where they watched Wonder Woman. Five hours after the date first began, they ended the date on a high note with a kiss good night.
They both quickly realized that they had found “the one!” They describe dating each other as being very natural and they knew they wanted a future together. After dating for several months, Shaun knew it was time to propose! Shaun was scheduled to go to a conference in San Diego, and he invited Sarah to come along with him. He knew the trip would be the perfect opportunity to propose. The trouble was bringing the ring through security, and he stressed endlessly about it setting off alarms and having some security guy open the box in front of Sarah. Shaun made a lot of phone calls to the hotel to ensure they would have a balcony, to TSA, the Columbia airport, and the local TSA office regarding the ring. He also surreptitiously found an excuse to get held up at the baggage check so they would get separated and he could ensure ultimate secrecy. They successfully arrived to San Diego and his plan to propose was still in action! After dinner, Sarah and Shaun were looking out at the stars over the harbor. Sarah was telling Shaun about her afternoon with her aunt, and how they had discussed their relationship and future. She even mentioned that they had talked about the two of them getting married eventually. Shaun knew this was his big moment and stepped into the room to grab the ring while Sarah was still looking out over the water. He stepped back, got onto one knee, and told Sarah to turn around. She had the cutest gasp of surprise! On the balcony, overlooking the stars, Shaun asked Sarah to marry him!
