Tori + Max | Russelville, Missouri Farm Engagement Session

Tori and Max first knew of each other way back in Catholic grade school in Jefferson City.  Even though they attended different schools, their paths continued to cross, and it wasn’t until high school that their connection truly began!  That’s where their story officially took root, and it’s been growing ever since.

High School Sweethearts

Tori and Max began dating in October of 2016, making them true high school sweethearts!  Over the years, their relationship has been built on laughter, unwavering support, and the comfort of always feeling at home with one another.

When I asked them when they knew they had found “the one,” their answers spoke volumes about who they are as a couple.  Tori knew Max was the one because of the way he supports her, makes her laugh, and always feels like home.  Max said he knew Tori was the one because of the way they supported each other no matter what life threw at them, and how they always made one another better.  And in true Max fashion, he added that the deal was sealed when Tori shot and dropped a deer at 350 yards. Honestly, what better proof of compatibility could there be?

How He Asked

Fast forward to July 5, 2025, when Max got down on one knee in the most meaningful place of all, right at home!

He had this sweet vision of proposing to Tori on the dock with their sweet dog, Boone, by their side.  But Boone had other plans and decided not to cooperate with the dock idea.  So instead, as they walked back up to the house, Max looked at Tori, decided there was no reason to wait, and said, “I guess this is the perfect time!”

When Tori turned around, Max was on one knee, ring in hand.  It was simple, heartfelt, and full of love, the kind of “perfectly imperfect” moment that fits them both so well!

Their Engagement Session on the Farm

When Tori mentioned wanting to do their engagement session on her grandparents farm, I knew it would be special, but I don’t think I realized just how magical it would turn out to be!

We hopped in a side by side and rode across the rolling countryside, taking in all the pretty colors as the leaves began to change.  Everywhere we looked, there were wide open fields, tree lined ridges, and views that felt endless.  It was the kind of backdrop photographers dream about, and the perfect place to tell their story!

Of course, their sweet pup Boone joined us for the adventure, and he was the happiest guy the entire time!  He raced through the fields, wagged his tail like crazy, and even managed to show off his best trick, balancing Tori’s engagement ring on his nose like a true gentleman!

One of the most meaningful parts of the session was including Tori’s grandmother, who owns the property. At over 90 years old, she’s a spunky little spitfire, and though she may not have been too excited to be part of the photos, we were so happy she decided to join in for a few!  We made sure to capture moments with her against the rolling hills of the farm, a setting she’s loved and cared for all her life.  Those images are some of my absolute favorites!

When they’re not planning their wedding, you’ll find Tori & Max outdoors.  Whether it’s hunting, fishing, or just relaxing together on their back patio, they love spending their time surrounded by nature and each other.

Tori describes Max as supportive, hardworking, and passionate.  What she admires most about him is his unwavering support and the way he makes her feel truly loved and understood.  Max describes Tori as kind, adventurous, and easygoing, and what he admires most about her is her big heart and the way she makes everyone feel welcome and cared for!

When I asked what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day, Tori’s answer made me smile!   she can’t wait to become Max’s wife, to celebrate their love surrounded by the family and friends who mean the most to them, and to begin this next chapter of life together.

We cannot wait to celebrate with Tori and Max on the day they finally become husband and wife!
