We met Kate and Jonathan in Kansas City at Loose Park on the most beautiful October day. The light was dreamy and filtered through the willow tree perfectly as Kate and Jonathan’s connection shined through! The beautiful backdrop had us swooning from the first click of our shutter. With a gorgeous park setting, pretty natural light, and an adorable couple head over heels for one another, you know magic will happen! I had a blast walking around Loose Park and exploring all the beauty it has to offer. I love how effortlessly Kate and Jonathan would fall into poses making my job a breeze. They laughed and giggled and had a great time as we strolled around Kansas City! We ended the session on a high note as we ventured to Liberty War Memorial. Here, you can see the breathtaking view of the Kansas City skyline. It was the perfect spot to document the love these two share!
How They Met
Jonathan and Kate went to the same high school. The two met freshman year, but wouldn’t become super close until their junior year of high school. It was a chemistry class they shared together that would inevitably bring Kate and Jonathan closer. Over the course of that year, they became best friends with each other. Fast forward to senior year, and Kate and Jonathan would go on their first official date! It was the spring semester of that year, and Jonathan decided to take Kate to a tiny thai restaurant in town. Neither of them were nervous to attend the date since they were already best friends and they had hung out with one another all the time over the past year.
Over time, Jonathan and Kate just clicked. They are both competitive and driven people. They love to push each other while always being encouraging of each other at the same time. There wasn’t one specific moment when they knew they had found the one, but over time, Kate and Jonathan just knew they found the perfect match in each other. It’s evident these two are a great fit for one another! We had so much fun documenting their connection and cannot wait to do so again on their wedding day!
How He Asked
Jonathan and Kate had gone ring shopping months prior, but Kate had no idea when he would propose. One night, they went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant in town, which is very normal for them. After dinner, they came back to Jonathan’s apartment to watch a movie and drink wine. He kept asking Kate if she wanted wine and she kept saying “no, not right now.” Kate couldn’t figure out why he was really pushing for them to have a glass of wine that night. A little while later, Kate said she would take a glass, so Jonathan went to open the wine to pour a glass for her. Kate was sitting in the other room just looking on her phone when Jonathan walked back in. Kate looked up and saw that Jonathan didn’t have any wine so she was very confused. He then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! Kate was so excited and happy in that moment. Ohh, and she did end up getting her celebratory glass of wine after!
Jonathan and Kate are such a fun couple and we know that together, they will accomplish amazing things!
